As above and have you got a kill/run switch set right? side stand switch?
-
Has it got a side stand cut out switch? it could be playing up or if you are starting the bike with the sidestand down and then put it into gear the bike will cut out as a safety feature.

Welcome to the forum Mark, is it cutting out after constant speed at 60 ? if so it sounds like fuel starvation. Does it start straight up once you have coasted to a stop. Is the breather hole in the tank cap blocked or crap blocking the tank or in line filter if it has one. Or it could be the float is set to low. Is there a kink in the fuel pipe restricting flow.

Take no notice of them, as long as your son feels safe and holds on I see no harm in it. As long as your son can sit on the seat and has his feet firmly on the pegs it is not a problem. As others have said think about a headset so you two can enjoy whats going on around you.

Was this a private sale or from a shop, if the latter take it back and tell them its not fit for purpose. If private it gets tricky. If it was running perfect before the fill up everything points to either duff fuel or washing all the crap into the carbs when filling up. Are you positive that there is no derv in the tank, Drain the tank completely and clean all the filters and carbs. Have you drained any oil off to see if there is any metal particles in it. When it is running it does sound very clanky if that's a word but diesel can do that.

Good luck as a swinger @Davidtav, it has it's benifits and draw backs. Well this thread has taken a turn I wasnt expecting, its suddenly gone to the top of my watch list. Who knew mucking about in boats could be such fun, I blame it all on Howards Way. ( one for the youngsters to look up )

Sorry to read about your troubles, I would be checking the area out for cctv covering the site or roads around the area. Then asking to view that footage. If they know a black van removed them they obviously know what day it was. Try to narrow down the time line, Keep asking questions and pester them all the while and ask other residents what they saw or heard. Ask the management of the flats who were given access to your flat and at what time and date and for what reason. Your landlord had a duty of care to look after your property and should have given you notice if he was going to dispose of any of it. Good luck I hope you get the bikes back.

Congratulations onwards and upwards get them tests passed in time for the summer.

Hi Jay welcome to the forum, interested to see how you get on with the Enfield.
-
I doubt very much it would count as a modification for insurance purposes you would be alright there. It sounds like you need a combination of longer stem/arm and a better mirror head. It can be a bit of trial and error trying to find one that works. If you have a decent old fashioned bike shop near you they may have a few different types in stock that you could try for size. But if not take a few measurements of your existing mirrors and the start looking on line for mirrors that have the spec you need. Ps check your thread size in the mounting as this can range from 8mm um to 12mm and could be right and left hand threaded. Good luck.

The two yamahas must be close too or over the fourty year rule so no tax and mot. The vfr is beautiful to look at so I think you should keep all three and by another bike, you know it makes sense.

Looking forward to seeing the Chinese bikes.
Old-codger replied to Throttled's topic in Motorbike Chat
The problem you have is down the line with rapid model changes and trying to get spare parts for say a 4/5 year old bike. The Chinese have a bad reputation for not making spares or keeping stock for older models. So lets say they sell 100 of those cruisers in the uk do you think it keep stock for warranty/ repairs in the future. Just look at the car industry is having with older chinese MG cars, it is reported that cars are having to be scraped/ written off due to lack of structural parts from the maker. Then there is the the secondhand market I wonder what the resale value of that cruiser would be once its a week old, just look at the smaller cc chinese bikes secondhand you can hardly give them away. Sorry but its a NO from me. -
VM carb conversion for the TX650.

That is a great bit of machining and a very neat job, you must be really pleased with the outcome. -
I do wonder of the sheer stupidity of people sometimes, Have they had their head in a bucket for the last fourty years and not seen any decent news outlets reporting on those nice people running Iran. I have no sympathy for them, they got themselves in the shit it is not our problem to get them out. They are just a bargaining chip now so could be there for years.
