  1. Sorry to read about your troubles, I would be checking the area out for cctv covering the site or roads around the area. Then asking to view that footage. If they know a black van removed them they obviously know what day it was. Try to narrow down the time line, Keep asking questions and pester them all the while and ask other residents what they saw or heard. Ask the management of the flats who were given access to your flat and at what time and date and for what reason. Your landlord had a duty of care to look after your property and should have given you notice if he was going to dispose of any of it. Good luck I hope you get the bikes back.
  2. Congratulations onwards and upwards get them tests passed in time for the summer.
  3. Hi Bill welcome to the forum, The S A stands for Sturmey Archer who most people will know from the gears on old pushbikes but many years ago they also made engines and gearboxes for motorcycles.
  4. Hi Jay welcome to the forum, interested to see how you get on with the Enfield.
  5. I doubt very much it would count as a modification for insurance purposes you would be alright there. It sounds like you need a combination of longer stem/arm and a better mirror head. It can be a bit of trial and error trying to find one that works. If you have a decent old fashioned bike shop near you they may have a few different types in stock that you could try for size. But if not take a few measurements of your existing mirrors and the start looking on line for mirrors that have the spec you need. Ps check your thread size in the mounting as this can range from 8mm um to 12mm and could be right and left hand threaded. Good luck.
  6. The two yamahas must be close too or over the fourty year rule so no tax and mot. The vfr is beautiful to look at so I think you should keep all three and by another bike, you know it makes sense.
  7. Hi Credit welcome to the forum and congratulations on passing your CBT. Now you are hooked for life into the world of motorcycling. There are quite a few on here that have honda cbf1215s
  8. I take it you mean you have replaced the cylinder head and barrel ? and hopefully a new piston if that was fried as you put it.
  9. Just put a little crankcase filter on where the pipe used to exit the engine. The pipe is usually pushed onto a spigot so its just a matter of getting the correct diameter to fit that spigot.
  10. Kawasaki ER5
  11. The problem you have is down the line with rapid model changes and trying to get spare parts for say a 4/5 year old bike. The Chinese have a bad reputation for not making spares or keeping stock for older models. So lets say they sell 100 of those cruisers in the uk do you think it keep stock for warranty/ repairs in the future. Just look at the car industry is having with older chinese MG cars, it is reported that cars are having to be scraped/ written off due to lack of structural parts from the maker. Then there is the the secondhand market I wonder what the resale value of that cruiser would be once its a week old, just look at the smaller cc chinese bikes secondhand you can hardly give them away. Sorry but its a NO from me.
  12. That is a great bit of machining and a very neat job, you must be really pleased with the outcome.
  13. I do wonder of the sheer stupidity of people sometimes, Have they had their head in a bucket for the last fourty years and not seen any decent news outlets reporting on those nice people running Iran. I have no sympathy for them, they got themselves in the shit it is not our problem to get them out. They are just a bargaining chip now so could be there for years.
  14. Could you explain what the word "work" means? its been so long since I did anything remotely like that.
  15. Is this any good?? YAMAHA XJ900 DIVERSION 1994-03 FULL EXHAUST 320mm STAINLESS ...
  16. Well done that man onwards and upwards, Chris you may be interested in the feb edition of Classic Bike Guide there is an article on the Honda CG125 over all the years and the thoughts of many owners.
  17. I have been in so many rented properties over the years where the landlords just take the money and make absolutly no improvements to the property. Just take the rent and if the tenants complain they get kicked out and another tenant moves in. Ive been in houses where you can see the sky through the roof, windows not closing or rotton and even falling out. Mold covering bedroom walls, ancient boilers that cost a fortune to run the list goes on. There is a house near me that was built in 1992 it has rotton single glaze windows no cavity insulation and the last tenant said hardly any loft insulation. This is a one bed house rented out at around 800 a month and there is no mortgage on the property. So over the years the landlord has had a very good return on that and done sod all to improve it for their tenants. Its all about trying to improve britains housing stock and bring it up to a better standard, there are thousands upon thousands of poor quality rented houses in this country. Im not saying anyone on here is a bad landlord but overall the UK housing stock is one of the worst in europe.
  18. That is a very nice job you have done there you should be well pleased with the finished bike.
  19. So if ive read your last post right your thinking of saying to the insurance company that the bike is restricted but in reality it will not be? If its your plan then if you have an accident you are not insured even if it is not your fault and you will be in even deeper crap, from being nicked to lying to an insurance company and god forbid you dont hurt someone in a crash you face huge claims against yourself personally that could run into millions in bad cases. I take it you havnt got a full licence yet why dont you get an older bike and ride around on that for a year or to, build up your experiance and no claims then move on to something bigger. Just a thought. Ps Its been a long while since i read anything on restricting bikes but im pretty sure the bike has to be restricted by an authorised dealer and the insurance will want to see the certificate as proof. Others may be more up on this bit of law.
  20. Bit to modern for me but still very nice.
  21. Hi Chris welcome to the forum.
  22. As Fiddlesticks says use osram Night breaker they are a vast improvement.
  23. The bike is quite a transformation its looking really good, Good luck hope the op goes well and you are back spannering asap.
  24. Its anything from a ticking off or a Traffic Offence Report TOR to a Vehicle defect Rectification Notice or if you really piss the copper off its up to a 1000 quid. If you continue to use said plate the DVLA can recind the plate for that vehicle.
  25. This isnt your exact model but I would guess the principle is the same.
