  1. If you do strip the speedo drive have a look at this part as on other old hondas ive worked on the tangs can get bent or wear away over time so it no longer engages with the drive gears. Have a look at this part to get an idea what it looks like. RETAINER,GEAR BOX for CB400NC 1983 (D) NORTHERN EUROPE - order at CMSNL
  2. As Nick says I would take it to bits first and see why its failed, it may be that a part has come loose and just need puting back together. Failing that I would buy a good used honda part if I could.
  3. Just wondered is someone a bit jellous
  4. First check cable is fitted tight at each end and not come undone. Then remove cable at the speedo end get front wheel off the ground and spin wheel as quick as you can. even slowly you should see the cable turning. If its not turning check cable is seated properly in the speedo drive. If still not spinning check condition of the cable it could of snapped or rounded off. If still not spinning look in speedo drive at the wheel as you spin it and you should see the bit the cable slots into turning. If the cable is ok and the drive assembly at the wheel is turning it can only be the speedo head. My guess is the cable has loosened off or broke. Good luck
  5. Have a look on this site at a diagram of your headlight assembly and hopefully you can work out what part has been cut out. Yamaha YBR125ED 2009 3D99 EUROPE 1H3D9-300E1 34 HEADLIGHT - buy original 34 HEADLIGHT spares online (cmsnl.com) I would of thought the bulb is a two filiment type with a dip and high beam so at least two wires possibly three if the bulb doesnt earth through the headlight mounting. Have a search for a wiring diagram for your model so you know what you are looking for. Good luck.
  6. Hi there a bit more info is needed where is the wire broken ? is it at a connector block or just a broken wire. If its just a worn through wire either solder it together again and tape or heat shrink it. If its broken at a connector block you can release the broken off spade connector with a very small pick or screwdriver. Then get a new terminal/spade connector of the same design and size to replace it. Make sure you have enough slack so the wire is not pulling at the connector if it is add a short length of wire of the same rating. If you are unsure of how to do a decent repair have a look on you tube at a few vids for advice. Good luck.
  7. Hi there welcome to the forum, as you are importing the bike from the Uk you have to inform customs when you import it then there are duties on the value of the used bike plus VAT on top of that. You will then have to register the bike in Ireland so you can get a road fund licence. Your best bet is to go on to the Ireland gov site and read up on importing a vehicle and the hoops you have to jump through. When working out how much the bike is worth try and get a few valuations from ads and dealers and a bit of research on that model as the lower the figure the less customs duty to pay. Good luck.
  8. I like the programmes he does if it wasnt for him there would be no motorcycle programmes on the tv. I would like to see more of the skills of Alan Sam and Skid though.
  9. Welcome to the forum, you are very talented that looks fantastic.
  10. Its highly unlikely that anyone makes sports exhausts for a far east commuter scooter, they are made cheap sold cheap and usually riden into the ground and then thrown away. Probably your best bet would to use the downpipe and find a fabricator willing to graft some sort of silencer on with bespoke mounting brackets.

  16. If its just the end can I cant see a problem, as long as its a decent make and its your bike you can do what you like and everyone can go and do one. The only problem you could have is with a warranty issue but that would only be If the problem concerned the end can. I say go for it. it must look better than the original.
  17. I would suggest try getting your quotes for comprehensive insurance, it seems daft but just getting TPFT implys your not bothered about your vehicle and just need legal cover. Comprehensive insurance normally comes out cheaper.
  18. Never believe anything the Post Office tells you
  19. Have you got a bolt or a wooden dowel sligthly smaller than the axle, put the swing arm bolt in from one side to hold that side up then move to the other side and slide your temp dowel into support that side. Hopefully you will be able to slid the swinging arm bolt in further and further then gently push the temp dowel out as the swinging arm bolt goes through th frame. You may need to giggle the arm about a bit but it should line up.

  24. Give DK motorcycle spares in Newcastle-under-Lyme a ring, they break thousands of older bikes and bring bikes in from abroad you may get lucky.
  25. You can ride a bike as long as it has insurance to a pre arranged MOT station then tax it when it passes, but if you get pulled as you say on the way to work you are on a sticky wicket and plod may think you are taking the piss and nick you.
