  1. The paper counterpart shows your provisional entitlement(s), so as A is listed you have a current provisional licence for Group A. This however needs to be validated by attending CBT and gaining a certificate (which remains current for 2 years or until you pass a full A test, whichever is sooner) and this should be produced along with your provisional Group A licence (both parts) when attending a test centre or when requested to do so by a policeman.
  2. Chains "stretch" over time as they wear. It shoudl be a routine task to check tension and adjust. For a better idea of how to do this, try Google "How to adjust motorcycle chain". There are literally dozens of Youtube videos that show you step by step how to. If your chain is so loose as to be rubbing on the stand, I'd think it's too loose to ride it on the road. If it comes off while you're moving it can lock the back wheel, causing danger to yourself and other road users. Learn how to do it yourself. It'll save you a fortune in repair bills quite quickly.
  3. Bear in mind that the law in Northern Ireland is not necessarily the same as in England.
  4. Yes. Cheap isn't it?
  5. No, unless you have a permit
  6. It'll need nothing more than draining and refilling. I did it twice in a few weeks in my Citroen. First time I paid through the nose for a "speciailist" to steal my petrol. Second time I did it myself and reused the petrol in my bikes. If it's diesel into a petrol engine it gets a little more tricky though...
  7. Scottoiler, along with any old (used) oil. Less hassle, and less cost.
  8. So click on each developing hazard twice, which equates to BRAKE (click), BRAKE HARDER (click) and maybe even BRAKE RELEASE (click). Doing this on each developing hazard shouldn't trigger the "cheat" routine, but should enable you to score on each clip.
  9. Unfortunately I am nowhere near you, and I currently don't have my bikes anywhere near me.... other than that, I'd be up for a rideout with you!
  10. It's awful. I hate it. Passed it first time for A1, failed first time for ADI. Damn those sheep! Just click every time you see a DEVELOPING hazard, and not when you see a POTENTIAL hazard. To put it another way, treat the mouse button as a brake lever. Click every time something on screen would make you brake, and not when it would make you cover your brake just in case... Example: A car approaching a junction ahead and to your left is a POTENTIAL hazard. A car exiting a junction ahead and to your left is a DEVELOPING hazard. And lastly, if you see sheep, DO NOT RELAX. There are more ahead!
  11. How did you check the oil level when you refilled it after the oil change?
  12. Get a tin of Smoothrite and brush it on yourself. http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/hammerite-sb250ml-smooth-finish-250ml-bru-p13373
  13. Tesco value coke will do it as it contains (dilute) phosphoric acid.

    Touching Exhaust

I would say you should be concerned. The steel braid is usually a simple protector covering, the hose itself will still be made of rubber? In which case, heating it to exhaust temperature is not a good thing and will compromise the oil cooler's effectiveness.

    MOT Frame

That part of the test is to check that the back wheel is properly aligned, and has little to do with the frame itself. If it isn't aligned it's a simple 5 minute task to loosen the rear wheel and properly align it.

  17. Usually the ear piece fits independently of the helmet. And usually it's a one-way audio arrangement, so you listen, hence no need for a microphone.

  19. Indeed it has... http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20120810121037/http://www.highways.gov.uk/knowledge/11526.aspx Luckily, the link above still works
  20. Youth hostels are worth looking at.
  21. Make sure you tell your instructor about your nerves from the off. He is trained to deal with it and should be able to help you overcome the nerves. Come test day, just treat the test like any other ride. Enjoy it.
  22. Try here http://www.thevinylcorporation.co.uk/clear_vinyl.php or contact local vinyl signmakers who may be able/willing to supply whatever size you need.
  23. Personally I'd steer clear of anything that doesn't get a good rating here http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/ Also, fit is all important. Make sure you are able to try a helmet on before you buy it.
  24. Scottoiler is THE dream product for chains. Fit and (almost) forget.
