  1. Okay, I don't commute on a bike and ride purely for fun. It's my stress reliever and if I want it my adrenaline generator. Can't envisage giving it up until I literally am physically unable to ride.
  2. I've got the 550 and it's mainly ok. I like it's system apart from its habit of occasionally selecting some insanely small roads.
  3. Remember being in Seaforth' on the 24th December and dockers promised the crew we'd not sail before the 26th. bast*rds took a bonus and we locked out at 2300 on Christmas Eve. I was only an embryonic officer at the time but lived in Aigburth at the time. A very cheesed off ship's complement.
  4. Port police never struck me as the sharpest examples of the breed. Back in the day there used to be a man sized hole in Seaforth's perimeter fence just opposite the old pub that used to be there. Never was blocked off and every low level smuggler used to take their fags and booze through it.
  5. Ordered new Metzler roadtec 01 tyres. Hopefully get fitted next week.
  6. Not really. I was pulling out from the old Canada Docks and there was diesel on the road and whoosh I wasn't where I wanted to be.
  7. When I wrote it off it skidded on the old Dock Road in Liverpool into a container wagons tractor unit rear wheel. It was unharmed, the 66 was destroyed. Apart from having to tell my wife I had destroyed her car I was sooo happy!
  8. Our very first car was given to my wife when her mother retired. It was hideous - Volvo (DAF) 66. I was so glad when I wrote it off a couple of years later. It was also lethal. It would skid on the slightest hint of damp. Once on a single track road in Herefordshire a bit of clay got jammed somewhere which caused it to try and accelerate - we had to kill it by cutting the ignition. It's rubber bands (variomatic) used to snap about every 6000 miles. It was horrible.
  9. That's the thing with the Drift. It has so many good design features but is just badly put together; it's really frustrating.
  10. Have to agree that the OEM is pretty ugly. Looks similar to mine although that did have two tubes but was still pretty hideous imo. Glad I changed it.
  11. TomTom's a no go as they've stopped making it or supporting the software. Various other small profile cameras are either no longer in production or have a worse reputation than the Drift. I'm still doing research but right now it looks like I either stick with Drift and get a waterproof case or version or go down the GoPro route. The problem is I just don't fancy sticking a GoPro on my helmet which means trying to find somewhere to attach it on the bike or on a chest harness. The latter may be the way to go.
  12. Certainly the Multistrada has no issues with electrics in the rain. Mine has been out in rain heavy enough to kill my Ghost camera and has done quite a few long motorway miles in heavy rain without any issues whatsoever. Furthermore it lives outside for at least 6 months of the year albeit with a cover. As Marino said modern Ducati bikes are as good as anyone's.
  13. The TomTom camera is a similar shape to the Ghost and has a similar kind of mount I think. About £200 so not as pricy as the GoPro. Not sure what the battery life is though as the Ghost with extended battery pack lasted for a full day.
  14. I did like the ghost and if it hadn't gone tits up on me I'd have been happy with it. Now thinking of the TomTom camera which has a similar profile. Just don't fancy the GoPro shape hanging off my lid.
  15. Just had a closer look at the paused shot. Definitely not a cop and probably racing the bike. What I thought were cop car markings were where the van impacted on the car. Total head bangers the pair of them!
  16. Erm luck. Also, not a cop car - unless CID is issuing unmarked white BentleysScreenshot_20200626-221616_Opera.jpg It's not in the UK and I don't think the car is a Bentley, more like a Chrysler which they do have. As to luck or skill? Pure luck and I reckon he's used up a lifetime's worth just there.
  17. I thought it was a cop car about to try and get in front of the bike but as you say there's no lights visible and I'm not sure if the average yank cop car would be fast enough to get past a bike. Either way the biker is a lucky bast*rd and if he hasn't toned it down is probably a late biker.
  18. North Somerset into Devon along the coast. Possibly crowded though.
  19. Unless you're one of the living dead this IS your day what with your semi- god like powers and all.
  20. Not so sure as if the wiped out cop car had any kind of camera the biker is going to be in a world of pain. Course he is alive which he very nearly wasn't so I suppose being Bubba's pal may not be all bad.
  21. Shouldn't that be formerly male?
  22. There are two minor errors here. The purchase and branding of children is generally frowned upon. But the probability that this refers to not buying second hand lids is sound. The other error is of course that the discerning biker would only ever invest in a Triumph. People will tell you otherwise. They are wrong. They are entitled to be wrong. It is after all a free world. But they are wrong nevertheless. I'd agree but I'd substitute Ducati for Triumph. I tried selling my kids, didn't work.
  23. Don't know much about bike restoration but I do know about petroleum fuels and tank coatings. Most coatings and paints will react badly with any kind of petroleum and you'll end up with a horrid mess in your tank which will create havoc with your fueling system. There are special coatings designed specifically for coating fuel tanks but so far as I am aware they are all pretty costly and require precise methods of application. If it were me I'd probably go for the professional option. At least if it went wrong in the short term you'd hopefully have some comeback.
  24. Sound quality is exactly the same as mine - rubbish. Tried an external mike which I mounted behind my wind screen. Marginally better but still not exactly brilliant. I still think that a camera pushed for sports should be at least rain proof. My son in law's has also gone tits up due to rain. He got nowhere with his supplier and as my supplier is in Singapore I'm not even bothering. On the credit side I did get mine in a sale so it cost me half of the UK MRP. Wish I'd spent a tad more as I could have got the GoPro 7 for not much more. Live and learn.
