  1. Even prior to Covid retail was heading for the crapper. It's so much easier to sit at home browsing rather than tramping round the shops. There's some stuff I like to at least see in the flesh before buying and many places will match an online price if you ask. Covid in many cases has just been the final nail in the coffin. Same as working from home and being furloughed - how many ordinary people are going to end up losing their jobs when companies decide they don't need so many staff. Home working means a lot of support staff such as secretaries etc aren't needed. The more you dig into it the worse it gets.
  2. Like to see the argument that it wasn't combustible!
  3. I use black hammerite for my side stand and centre stand which get a lot of abuse and paint chips off etc.
  4. If the size is right I can recommend Metzler tyres.
  5. Motolegends in Guildford used to do test rides in helmets pre-covid. Not sure if they still do.
  6. You planning on buying it? Looks like a good project!
  7. I go and buy another just to piss the twat off Yeah but what do you actually buy? Probably doesn't so much as piss him off as to cast him into the pits of despair that anyone of sound mind (allegedly) would actually pay money for the stuff you buy!
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmGuy0jievs Sadly not quite. More like scruff central. Views can be nice though: View from my office window
  9. I'd not class a Mersey ferry as a cruise ship really.
  10. As I said before its cost, range and rechargability that rule out electric vehicles in general. My wife was interested enough in the Tesla model 3 to pay a reservation fee of £1000 so we did get a test drive. However endless delays in delivery combined with spiralling costs made her cancel it. It was good to drive and from what I hear bikes are good to ride. But the range is barely a 100 miles! Recently I did close to 400 miles with 2 fuel stops in 8 hours - not viable on an electric bike. When they can seamlessly do what I want then I may consider one but until then they are for me a pipe dream.
  11. Well today I had a gentle run up to Morpeth and back to see my aged parents. Again loads of bikes out as well as the lycra mob. Then sadly it'll be time to tuck the bike up for a few months while I sail the seven seas.
  12. Altered carbon was a fresh idea done well. so much going on. going to watch season 2 but it needs full attention The 3 books in the Altered Carbon series were really good too.
  13. Thinking about sorn on my bike as it's due at the end of the month but I'm going to be away from about the 22nd until god knows. I'll keep the insurance going though.
  14. Gloucester to Ravenglass mostly on motorway. Then Hardknott Pass, Wrynose and on to Ambleside. Then Kirkstone pass and Penrith via Ullswater. On to Alston via the Hartside pass and across the Moors to Barnard Castle. Loads of bikes out as well as Muppets in lycra and clueless car drivers parking in passing places FFS. Below Hardknott Below Hardknott Near Ravenglass top of Wrynose Knackered old fart
  15. I'm no bloody lefty and if I hug a tree it's to work out the size before I chainsaw it. Cheeky sod.
  16. The ship is sailing while you're in the cabin though? No not yet, no cruising, all cancelled so far till October, but Monday we should depart from Liverpool to Belfast and stay there until further notice. We are what they call skeleton crew, minimum people on board (90 something people) just to keep her warm and ready. 90 as a skeleton crew? Ye god's, we only have 23 to do the whole thing normally. Course it's easier to pump 150,000 odd tonnes of oil than look after a couple of thousand geriatrics so I guess a goodly percentage of your crew is cabin crew.
  17. I think in the last week I've seen one younger person on a bike for every 10 or so old gits like me. That said I have seen a few young women on bikes and probably more than when I were a lad. So it might not be all bad.
  18. I'd have an electric bike if the range increased, the charge times were reasonable and the price came down. The handling and acceleration is apparently awesome so what's not to like? I like the noise of my Ducati but it's not an essential part of riding the bike for me.
  19. On Saturday taking the Mutley north and weather permitting plan to do the Hardknott, Wrynose and Hartside passes on the way. On Sunday visit my parents in Northumberland then sadly put the bike to bed until I come home sometime in October or November or whenever Covid permits.
  20. Really not good service from BMW. It's not as if Germany is on the far side of the world FFS.
  21. The only way I'd get a green lane is put down some Astroturf! Or heard towards the north west of Spain, España verde!! Main.jpg vignette-circuit-espagne-espana-verde-j13-picos-de-europa-20191206100637.jpg Pre Covid that's where we were supposed to be for 2 weeks in April. Maybe next year.
  22. I've just changed tyres after my rear was down to the wear marker. The tyre (Pirelli Scorpion) had done 8600 miles in all conditions on a Multistrada 950. So your mileage is low for your bike.

Zander or pike? Looks a nice fish.
  24. Good on them if they rode that from Scotland to Devon! When men were men and women were tough.
