Historically I've always used Fertan products and found them to be excellent.  I've used their product range on everything from bikes to metal garden railings and I've never had any issues.  They do a full range of products available here in the UK.  Not cheap, but they do seem to work.

Used to use Fertan on a boat and it worked well enough. Easy to apply as well.

  2. Pretty sure it's residents only as otherwise half the bikers in the country would have Manx licences. A friend of mine from years ago whose parents actually lived in the IoM had a Manx licence and a UK one ( in the era of ride around the block tests) and when he was acquiring an unhealthy number of points on one switched to the other. Eventually he got caught of course but it was fun while it lasted.

  3. Too true. Right now I'm kind of scratching my head to find out what the police actually do. Chase killers maybe which is a good thing but all the stuff that affects ordinary people - burglaries, mugging, anti social behaviour generally just gets ignored.

  4. I hear enough cars racketing around my neck of the woods with obviously illegal exhausts. Plod seem to completely ignore them. By definition they aren't exactly stealthy. Apart from one Subaru WRX I see (and hear) they are mostly small Fords and Vauxhalls and usually quite sluggish performance wise.

  5. My understanding is that if you are an American citizen you can use an American drivers licence but whether its permanent or not I don't know. I do know that a Brit who obtained an American licence and tried to use it in the UK didn't get far unless you were resident in the USA and just visiting. A friend tried it and got fined quite a lot back in the 80's.  May have changed now though.

  6. No leathers and the only rowing is on the rowing machine in the gym. On these kind of ships propulsion power is a large 4 stroke 6 cylinder diesel nominally18750 kW but downgraded to 11500 kW to comply with emission standards. Electrical power is from 3 auxiliary diesel gensets of 1050 kW again 6 cylinders each.

  7. Rural Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire is the same. 40 mph regardless of the posted limit. Annoying on the bike but infuriating in a car. Actually had idiots overtake me in a 20 mph zone only for me to catch them up a mile outside the village.

  8. Knock on wood but the only off I've had at anything other than really slow was long ago when I had a helmet, gloves and boots but otherwise just had regular clothing on. Armour wouldn't have made any difference as the only injury I got was the bar end digging into my thigh. That said I now have decent gear with mostly Ghost D30 armour. I'm not planning on removing it any time soon.
