Good morning from sunny China where our planned escape yesterday was cancelled when we lost all lubrication to the engine. Turns out the newly overhauled lube pumps were blocked with rags. Now authorities are in a snit and they are arguing about whether we can go today or tomorrow. I hate this bloody place.

Can't stand the bloody things (horses) myself. Have to revert to medieval peasant lifestyle and travel as far as I can walk. Meanwhile in China they don't give a toss about the environment whatever platitudes they might mouth in public. Officially no grit blasting allowed - on occasion like walking in a sandstorm due to dust from grit blasting. Only time I was glad to wear a mask. Being environmentally minded the owners changed from one kind of Freon Gas to a more benevolent variety. Chinese techs carefully captured the old gas into empty cylinders and then equally carefully allowed them to leak to atmosphere overnight. Etc. Etc.

Quite how people are going to manage in rural areas I don't know. Expensive cars which probably can't be charged easily and a virtually nonexistent public transport network. Sounds like a winning combination.

A lot of threads here go off on tangents. Just be grateful no one mentioned biscuits. My tuppence worth. My sports helmet is lighter, noisier and more uncomfortable. My touring helmet is a lot more pleasant to wear.

Good morning from China. Finally about to leave dry dock and then just 3 more days while they(we) fix everything they broke.

Came back to riding after more than 30 years. Wife refuses to go pillion so no issues there and the bike I got was a Multistrada 950. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Assuming you pass your full bike licence there's absolutely no reason you can't ride a 350 on a motorway. You'll easily achieve legal speeds. However A and B roads will be a lot more fun but if you need to get somewhere in a hurry the motorway is the way to go. That said you'll probably find a 350 boring after a bit so be warned!

When the rain stops if the wind does too you are eaten alive. Have to agree camping in the rain sucks. Don't mind being out in rain but a good hot bath and somewhere to dry your kit is fairly essential imo.
