I sold my panniers for £275 + £25 postage and they took nearly 14% of the total. Annoys me that I get charged a % of the postage that the buyer pays for.

E5 is the recently old 95 Ron. 5% Ethanol They then brought out E10 - 10% Ethanol. E10 cost the same as E5 used to do and they put E5 up. Then everything went up! I use E10 in my car but am getting less mpg now.

The rear fender on the Versys is absolutely no good at keeping crap off the back AND the sides of the bike. If you look closely enough from the back of the bike, it’s slightly offset more to the right of the wheel. A fender extender will help a lot. I put one on mine. It’s a Pyramid Plastics one.

My Rukka laminated suit has never let one drop of water in. My jacket is 8 years old. I changed the pants a few years ago only to get the longer leg. My previous pants never let me down nor the newer ones. I know Goretex can be expensive, but you really are paying for a quality product that is a brilliant investment. If you want to stay comfortable AND completely dry then don’t waste your money on anything other. If it says waterproof it will leak. You need laminated Gortex.

I think I have an optimate 4. Had my bike plugged into it when it was in the shed. Battery was 6 years old (as old as the bike, which I no longer have) and it never failed to start on the button. The Optimate cycles the battery to keep it in tip top condition.

Make sure you test ride them all and try and push the dealers for as long as possible. Some only want you taking them out for an hour and that’s just not enough time to make a decision. You need at least a full day so you can get in every type of road.

Go to a school and speak with them. They should be able to tailor your lessons. I doubt you will need many so I would suggest paying by the lesson rather than a block that they would normally do for a DAS. They should give you an assessment lesson and take it from there. I passed my bike test back in 2006 before the mod 1 &2 started. I was a Driving Instructor back then and had messed about on bikes when I was in my teens. I took 6 lessons over 4 weeks while waiting for the test date and passed.

All great points. You may find over the years that what you want from a bike may change and you’ve already worked out some of the things you will take into consideration for your next bike. The good thing is that when you come to buy your future bikes you will be able to test ride them, which is completely different to only being able to sit on them.

If I’m honest with you. I think you’ve gone for the wrong bike. I think you are just too big for it and I don’t think you will ever feel 100% comfortable on it.

@manxie49 I’ve just sold my 2017 V1K that I had from new. I’ve given up biking. I went from a 2015 MT 09 Tracer. The Versys was the best bike I’ve owned and if I hadn’t given up I had no plans to change it. I bought a used OEM Kawasaki Comfort seat that was in mint condition and I was able to stay in the seat longer, but I still has issues if I was out all day. I bought this earlier in the year and it transformed the seat. It’s very comfy to sit on and even though the Rukka pants I had have the anti slip I found on this seat I did slide. Anyway if you want to pay for postage I will send you it as I have no more use and it wasn’t much. PM me.

Hmm I wasn’t expecting that reply. The tank grip pads are to help you grip the tank with your legs when under heavy braking to stop you sliding forwards and thus alleviating the pressure that will go through your arms. You should be able to squeeze the tank with your legs without tank grips when riding normally and by using your upper core alleviate the weight going into your arms and wrists. Are you riding with your forearms parallel to the ground? If they are not you will end up with stiff arms and wrists on a sports bike. Again I’m speculating as I can’t see you ride, but if you feel tense on the bike then with your forearms parallel to the ground, just flap your elbows like doing the funky chicken and this will immediately loosen you up. EDIT: I’ve owned a CBR600RR So know about riding a sports bike.

You should only be using the grips for braking right? The tribo seat will stop you sliding forwards on its own and in conjunction with the rank grips you should stick to the bike very well. Do you have leathers or textiles? If textile it could be that the pant material is gripping the pads, but you’re getting movement in side the pants? I can only speculate though.
