  1. Are you sure it's a Cardo Freecom, and not a 'FreedConn'? Check this Ebay item number... 283793722943
  2. I have a waistcoat version and it's great! It runs off one of the power bank things you recharge like a mobile phone, so I consider it quite safe. Mine is very warm on the higher settings, and only needs to be on low normally. Sizes do come up small, but i went up two sizes and it's an ok fit. Didn't know about the trousers though, will have to look. Along with heated grips, I'm gonna look like the ready brek kid riding along ( for those that remember the ad)
  3. Thank you all for your replies. @raesewell, I think it's the high Moly content that's needed, so worth the extra spend. Thanks again.
  4. In my brave new world of tinkering with my Deauville, I am soon to remove the rear wheel. Being a shaft driven bike, I'm informed I should re-lube the splines with Moly 60, which is no longer available Can anyone let me know if this stuff is a suitable replacement, or recommend one that is? https://www.screwfix.com/p/multipurpose-grease-400ml/8436P?tc=GB8&ds_kid=92700046638549236&ds_rl=1243318&ds_rl=1241687&ds_rl=1245250&ds_rl=1245250&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxIyG6uio7QIVSeDtCh01vg22EAQYBCABEgI5mfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds#product_additional_details_container I'm trying to learn a few things as I go along, but don't want to use a product that is unsuitable. Thanks in advance.
  5. No, I'll be using the proper stuff for brakes. WD40 is just to lubricate wire wool/ Brillo pads to cleans the rims.
  6. Did my first spannering today, knowing I could always find help on here if I needed it. Thanks to you guys 'n' gals, I now have a nice new pair of brake discs fitted. Wasn't brave enough to renew the brake fluid though It did show me just how grungy everything is when I started taking bits off - so I'll do it all again soon and have plenty of brake cleaner/wd40/kerosene to hand.
  7. I think it can give you a sense of achievement if you stay within your limits, and close to YouTube. I'm fairly new to the two wheels world, but decided I'd have a go at as much as possible now that I am here. I used to enjoy working on the basics with cars, but accessibility to most of them was so restricted. On bikes, once the Tupperware is off, you can get to most bits. Did my first spannering today, changing the front discs . Mighty chuffed with myself
  8. We return to work on Wednesday. The Sun is never wrong https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11240303/when-lockdown-end-england-wales-scotland-northern-ireland/ Boris Johnson announced on Monday, November 23, that England's four-week lockdown will end as planned at 12.01am on Wednesday, December 2.

    RATS

Depends if you have power out there. I used to get rats in the shed where my fishing gear was stored. Winter came along and they got in to our cavity walls, and ended up in the loft. I got a couple of these and not had a problem since. https://www.primrose.co.uk/highpowered-pest-device-rat-and-mouse-p-696.html?cPath=24_25 Pet friendly, except for hamsters etc
  10. Scrap that - it just means I'm reading an unread post. I think.
  11. I don't know if it's the way I have set up my 'Stream', but I've suddenly noticed an 'Unread' button at the bottom of the page? Works too!
  12. I don't know how I set it up - more luck than judgement, but I think I have my stream set to show 'unread posts' and the time set 'since last visit'. I then either press the back button, or the newspaper page icon thingy next to the house/home symbol on the top bar. It also refreshes each time.
  13. Great post husoi, thank you I don't mind trying things, as long as I have simple instructions, and the above sounds simple enough. I'll have someone alongside me to keep an eye on the levels. I'll soon post again if I cock it up!
  14. I was advised on my previous post, that it made sense to change the brake fluid too, but I've also been told it's a nightmare to bleed these due to the linked system. Anyone have any experience doing this on a Deauville? Your answers are appreciated, many thanks.
  15. Thanks for the replies, I bit the bullet once I was sure I wasn't being ripped off. I don't mind paying what I need to, as long as I don't see the same thing at half the price afterwards.
  16. Thanks husoi, I did try them - not the keenest of prices Ebay scares the life out of me, always worried I'll buy the wrong stuff. Looks like I will have to bite the bullet
  17. I can't seem to add to my previous 'NT700 brake discs' post, so I'll have to ask on this new thread/stream/activity, or whatever it's called today ... I'm being quoted £77 each for brake discs ( I need two), which is more than I can run to this side of payday. Does anyone know of an alternative to Wemoto that they can recommend? I've tried cmnsl, Fowlers and Sportsbike shop who were all dearer.
  18. That doesn't work on my tablet - but clicking the icon that looks like a newspaper page ( at the very top, next to the home/house icon) , seems to do the job.
  19. Thanks for the tips, I'll get the parts ordered tomorrow. £77 for each disk Should I order new caliper pins? Not sure I'd know if the current ones are worn or not. Don't think i can replace the fluid either, I'm told the Hondas have a dual system that is tricky to bleed? Maybe I'll try, but I'll probably bottle it!
  20. Before I order the parts for this first foray into bike repairs, it's a dual disc front wheel, but only one side with this problem. Do I need to replace both at the same time? The failed side has 3 or 4 of these cracks, all on the outer rim towards the first vent hole, but other side looks fine. It may have been a single replacement before, or a bad disc from the start? Thanks in advance for any replies.
  21. Appreciate the tips - many thanks
  22. Hi all, just started to give my 'new to me' Deauville wheels a bit of a clean up, and saw this. ' alt=''> I assume it's not ideal, and will replace as required, but anything else I should think of doing whilst the front wheel is off? I have no experience with spannering a bike, very little with cars, but funds necessitate I give things a go myself. Could also do with the smug feeling of satisfaction if it all goes well too. ( I have the car as back up ) Shep
  23. To get this back on the subject of fund raising ... Just subscribed, I wasn't aware this was as easy as it was to do. Now I can feel entitled to ask for help on my first 'big bike' that's gonna need a little tlc Good luck with the new software, Shep
  24. https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-emt300-qc-300w-electric-multi-tool-220-240v/622FX?kpid=622FX&ds_kid=92700055256569560&ds_rl=1244066&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIiZKG1LmF7QIVEPlRCh0QKg9LEAQYASABEgJQ-PD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Can you use something like this to cut as close to hole as possible?
  25. I’ve got this, I find it best to spray it into the cap then use a small paint brush to apply. Stand the can in a jug of hot water for 10 minutes or so, and the spray is much finer for more coverage.
