  1. Stick a couple of these under the back feet - it makes it so much easier to pull it back out by just taking the weight off the front of the machine. 2. Had mine around 4 months now, and think it's a great solution to hard wiring something permanent with all the perils that entails. I did have some issues initially as either my mobile provider or the Android powers that be decided the alarm call centre number was junk and auto blocked it so it never rang when I tested it. Once I allowed the number it's been fine. I keep the fob in my jacket lining, which makes me look a little daft when I carry the jacket out just to move the bike from it's garage. If I take the fob on it's own, I just know I'll lose it. Not over expensive either - especially with the pay in 3 months feature on PayPal. Shep
  3. After today's rare rush hour journey on the A13 today, my advice would be to do the opposite to what the maniacs there do! Just take a car ride from Becton to Dagenham - shocking I actually saw one guy ( t-shirt, trainers and shorts) get abruptly stopped when his top box got caught between two vans he was trying to squeeze past. Absolute loonies. Traffic moving at around 40mph and the nutters still went flying down between lanes. Avg speed cameras were facing towards us, so no taking limits into account.
  4. No, if you want to keep calls then airplane mode is no good. What notifications are you trying to stop? If it's emails and WhatsApp, then turning off data/WiFi will achieve this. Won't stop sms texts though.
  5. Can you pull the culprit sensor wires off to disable it? At least you'll know if it is that.
  6. If I switch my android phone to airplane mode, I can still use GPS. Maybe a solution?
  7. Put my big boy pants on today and did my first puncture repair Seems wrong to make a hole the size of a biro to fit the sticky rope things, when the original hole was tiny.
  8. Can't believe the variation in prices across the country! This is from just outside Southend - the quaint little seaside village
  9. The subtle differences are in the words 'Should' & 'Must' "Rule H2 Rule for drivers, motorcyclists, horse drawn vehicles, horse riders and cyclists At a junction you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross a road into which or from which you are turning. You MUST give way to pedestrians on a zebra crossing, and to pedestrians and cyclists on a parallel crossing (see Rule 195). Pedestrians have priority when on a zebra crossing, on a parallel crossing or at light controlled crossings when they have a green signal. You should give way to pedestrians waiting to cross a zebra crossing, and to pedestrians and cyclists waiting to cross a parallel crossing." So, if they are not actually on the crossing, you should give priority, but it's not compulsory. If they are on the crossing you must give priority compulsorily ? Tis the way I understand it. Shep

    Touring again

My first 'big bike' was a Deauville, and I loved it! User friendly, lots of storage and great owners forum covering every aspect of servicing and repairing it that you could ask for. A heavy beast though. Good luck with whatever you decide, Shep
  11. Received the same email too
  12. Add Kawasaki to the missing list too. Nice idea, but definitely needs a reminder system.
  13. +1 for the Boosterplug Fitted mine to my Versys 650 yesterday due to same issues, and happy to say I can now take my pillion without bashing lids.
  14. Not sure to post here, or in 'rant of the day'... After the horrendous rain a few days ago, the engine fault light on my Versys came on and stayed on. I was fairly confident it was weather related, as I had taken the bike through some fairly deep puddles and the bow wave soaked everything including me. A little read up on a forum dedicated to this model gave me the info to detect the error code ( oxygen sensor on exhaust), and the way to clear the fault - which is where the rant comes in. To clear the light, you have to start the bike and leave for 30 secs on tickover, followed by 10 minutes of a constant speed over 18mph. Repeat 3 times. This wizardry actually worked, fault cleared but it took around 80 miles up and down the A13 & A130 to get 3 consecutive rides of 10minutes without some fool making me slow below the minimum speed due to roadworks or lane changing without indicators. I stuck to 40mph which I thought was fast enough to not catch up with too many, without holding up others. Still, cleared the fault, so happy days
  15. Thanks for that, off for a trawl of t'internet to find a cure.
  16. I have what I assume is the LT version (handguards/hard luggage and spotlights), and I absolutely love it! Then again, I was previously on a Deauville. The throttle is definitely on/off though. Quite jerky around town.
  17. Well done fella
  18. If it sounds too good to be true ... etc etc
  19. Just sold mine - same model, 5k miles 2018 with full mot for £1900
  20. Just found out my insurance doesn't include legal cover. I've never not had it before, but it looks like I'm without it on this one. I have it on my car, so may give them a call to see if they can advise. My daughter is still in pain and on crutches.
  21. I think it'll be a write off - 76k on the clock, so not worth an awful lot.
  22. Two cars behind was an undercover and on-duty police officer. There is no question of who is to blame. I'm glad it was witnessed, as I haven't a clue how it happened. I was stationary, flat footed and didn't see a thing!
  23. The twat who rear ended me in Chelmsford today, whilst I was stationary at a roundabout. Daughter was pillion, 7st , had the full weight of my Deauville across her right leg No broken bones, but there may be if I'm ever in drivers neck of the woods. The more time that passes, the more angry I'm becoming. Gonna have to be an insurance job, as 2 panniers alone are gonna cost a fortune, without the scuffed exhaust, new helmet, crash bar plastic etc
