  1. My instructor says no need for shoulder checks when pulling away from lights. Then whats all the should checks in mod 1 for then? Just do the checks, you can never be too safe. It is an opinion he has, which may differ to that of the examiner, so I'd err on the side of caution.
  2. Why not call and get a quote to amend the policy to the new bike until March? You'll only pay half a years difference in price, plus admin fee. That way, you'd have your 2 years ncb at renewal time? Shep
  3. Got a 2013 model for my daughter - very basic, but great fun. I fitted aftermarket central locking for her, and while the door cards were off, covered as much of the inside panels with Bostick self adhesive flashing band from Screwfix. The noise and vibration reduction is amazing. It was a very tinny sounding car before this. Did the spare wheel well and anything else I could uncover without too much hassle. Doubled the weight of the car mind ... Mpg is ridiculously good.
  4. Great bike, I've had mine nearly 2 years and still love being out on it. I'm just over 6' tall, so I put a quite large box on the back to disguise my size on a smallish bike. It does give the bike a bigger look. When I visit my parents, I chain my bike to their car wheels. Do you have a neighbour or someone local that would allow you to do this with their car? Shep
  5. Cheers guys - more excited than I thought I'd be. Gonna get my mates Deauville (dullsville? ) for a good price in a couple of weeks. High mileage (70k), but a good bike to gain a bit of experience on I'm told. Gotta sell my baby cb125f now
  6. As above, passed them both this week after getting held up with the covid break. Had to take MOD 1 in Basildon, not too far, but MOD 2 was in Ipswich. Bloody Ipswich! Have you seen the size of that Orwell bridge? A little shell shocked after spending a couple of hours on the A12 getting there and back, but well worth it I may crawl out from under my rock in the corner of the forum a little more now. Deauville nt700 on the way, a little different to my CB125f, but much nicer seat for my poor rear end after the A12 today. Shep
  7. Smart thinking - many thanks Shep
  8. Thanks for the fast reply, I was worried they might flash too fast. A job for the weekend Shep
  9. Hi all, Having a top box on my little cb125f obscures the rear light too much for my liking. If I add one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Car-Motorcycle-48-LED-SMD-Running-Brake-Tail-Stop-Turn-Signal-Light-Bar-Strip/143629636724?hash=item2170fe5474:g:8BQAAOSwgaVe40sb led bars to the back of the box, will it need an extra relay fitted somewhere, or will the led indicators just copy the standard ones fitted? I'm think of just piggy backing from the existing wiring, to a connector plug for when the back box is removed. Thanks in advance. Shep
  10. I have to vote for me - and this could be my nomination for toty when it comes around again. Went to fill up today, and as always, put the petrol cap on the pump with the keys in. Filled up with a whopping £12 worth, and couldn't get the cap back on. In a bit of a faff/panic, I decided it would be easier to take the bunch of keys out and try again, as the keyring was getting caught up. Key wouldn't release. By now, I'm feeling the pressure of the car waiting behind me, the bored stare of the security guy in the shop doorway and general panic of looking a fool - which I should be used to by now. I push the bike over to the parking spaces for the shop, and try again to get the keys out of the petrol cap, to make it easier to locate on the tank with gloves on. Bloody things still wouldn't budge. I'm now so fixated on trying to remove the keys from the tank so much, that I phone my daughter to bring my toolbox down to the petrol garage, (it's quite local). 20 minutes later, I decide to end my embarrassment in front of the bemused security guy, two cashiers and the guy opposite who has stopped cutting his grass just to watch my frustrations. I gave up trying to bust my key out of the cap, and pushed the bike in to the community centre car park next door. Realising the steering lock wasn't on, the Basildon boy in me took over. I decided to cut my losses, and hot wire the thing, and sort it out at home. Local plod had already passed by, but were too interested in getting their ginsters to worry about me, so off comes the front fairing / headlight assembly. Jammed my daughters hairclip across the two ignition contacts, replaced the front end with the engine running. Packed the tools back in to my daughters car and conscious that the tank was full, decided to rest the cap loosely in the hole to try and prevent spillage. The bloody thing fell straight in to place, and the stupid fooking key almost fell out, it was that simple. How was I to know the key is held captive in the cap? It gets worse ... I threw everything in the back box, including the bunch of keys, as the bike was running with the hairclip in place. Riding home, everything bounced out of the box that I hadn't locked, into the road. This includes my keys that my daughter promptly ran over ...
  11. Very similar to these is what I use https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133402874707 As mentioned by husoi, I also took the casings off and just planted the speakers under the foam helmet liner. Good enough for sat nav and music, telephone calls are a struggle sometimes, but no bugger calls me anyway. Charges via mini USB cable connector on the microphone, about once every 5/6 weeks.
  12. I bet it's not as bad as the 24mpg that my 02 x-type does! 3l v6? 2.5l
  13. Mine isn't. Getting on a bit now - made in 2003 — but it is all aluminium XJ. Very comfortable family car with Air suspension although fuel consumption is a bit rubbish. I bet it's not as bad as the 24mpg that my 02 x-type does!

  15. Don't forget that the current one you have won't stay as tight as it is when you first get it. I made the noob mistake of buying one to fit nice and snug, and it was too loose after a few weeks of short commuting. How long have you had this one for?
  16. https://cycle-ergo.com This site helped me sort the 'wheat from the chaff' when choosing my best of a 125
  17. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FINNED-CAR-BOOT-SEAL-Rubber-EDGE-TRIM-29mm-x-15mm/112160174152?hash=item1a1d447048:g:OD0AAOSwOyJX974j&redirect=mobile Can you fit something like this? (Crawls back under rock) Shepherd
  18. A hair dryer or careful use of heat gun restores faded car bumpers - maybe that would disguise any discolouration if you do get it off?
