I have these gloves and yes they do work quite well but if it's very very cold, you do feel cold fingertips after about an hours ride.

It sure is impressive what you did julianl, especially on a 125. How long did the whole trip take you? Cant believe your mate went on a trip like that after just obtaining his CBT, that's insane!

I got hit on my bike this morning. I'm okay
JackieOWheels replied to James in Brum's topic in Motorbike Chat
Insurers tend to try and settle Total Loss claims within 14-21 days of the accident date but many do struggle to fulfill that target. How long have you been on hire? I guess the third party insurer is trying to push out the settlement cheque as quickly as possible so that they can then stop paying for incurring hire charges. No doubt they would have tried contacting you to offer their services when the claim was logged on their system to mitigate their losses. I think the best form of action would be to not cash the cheque in as they would consider that a form of acceptance, I'm a bit confused from the above if you are dealing specifically with the third party insurer or your own insurer. -

So does that mean no aches and pains then? Was that a lie too? -
doing U turn in test
JackieOWheels replied to hawkeyefxr's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I would say it's closer to three parking spaces but it does depend on the car park but if your friend bonio gets good with two spaces, they should have no bother on test day. -

We have the pack talk and agree with everything except one thing! The 7 hours talk time!! Try 13 hours Fantastic bit of kit It’s certainly not cheap as CPT says but I guess you do treat these as little investments! -
So you’re riding Bridget in the colder months and Xena in the warmer months??

Sorry to hear about your accident James in Brum, You should do some research online to get a rough guide on what the market value is for your bike, similar models, mileage and year. What is your own insurer saying the value is for your bike? -
I’ve not been keeping up with this forum whilst I was away but I’m glad that you have found the bike CTRdemon. Looking to hear good news
-
Yeah, I would suggest trying on the items you want to buy and then checking on eBay/Gumtree to see if you can find it cheaper, there is always deals on both depending on what you are in the market for. I've brought most my body armours that way.

Used leathers ...... would you?
JackieOWheels replied to Pbassred's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I got mine for £55, but I was at the time bidding for an Oxford RP3 one piece but didn't get it so when this came along it was a no brainer; haven't had any issues apart from what I'd already mentioned on it thus far. -
That guy is an idiot. I'm glad he didn't go flying off his bike when he hit that gate but lady luck will not be with him forever!

Used leathers ...... would you?
JackieOWheels replied to Pbassred's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Likewise, I brought one 2nd hand Frank Thomas too that I wore a lot last Summer when it was wall to wall sunshine, I had to stitch some of the lining on the right hand sleeve as the threads had deteriorated but the leathers itself was in very good condition. I guess it really comes down to how much you really want that item against the price that it is on sale for! -
Thanks for the info dern, it was very helpful. I asked my instructor if I should take that course after passing my test but he said I need to ride more to gain experience first before I should go on that and I won't see the benefit as much as if I did it after a couple of years riding. I didn't realise there was a test at the end though.

GoPro Helmet solutions

I don't think there will be any way you can mount it on your chest to get a good view of the road ahead due to your bike being a sports bike. I could see there is some space on the handlebar, could you not mount it on the bike instead? -
I would be wary about purchasing that bike especially if the odometer and hpi mileage is different, Cat C means there was structural damage on the bike itself so unless the seller is able to provide you a detailed list of the things repaired and the purchase history for all the replaced parts, I would stay clear of it as you never know if it was repaired correctly to put bike back on the road. The fact the seller was so willing to drop the price just to encourage you to buy it is setting off alarm bells. However that's just IMO. Not sure how you will tackle the short handlebar issue as although the handlebars are clip-ons on most sportsbikes, they aren't really adjustable (as far as I'm aware) but I am prepared to be corrected by others who will know more. Yes I mean if he went from £1400 to £650 and before I went there, did the hpi check and it was showing cat c, different mileage and color changes. When I got there, it was a different story The matey tells me, heres the bike but I forgot to tell you we where joy riding a few weeks ago and ended up dropping the bike. As a result of that, it has no clutch lever or right mirror and the gear lever bracket broke. Other than that it needs a new tyre and it will pass the mot perfectly fine. I thought well while im here I can check if the bike fits me and to my suprise, the ride height was about 1.5 to 2 inches too long but what suprised me even more that i literally just reached the handlebars wouldnt be able to steer that bike. There is a high chance the registration plate has been swapped with another bike hence why everything on the bike is different, did you happen to take a note of the VIN number, it would at least tell you if the bike frame is at least the same as the seller claims. It definitely sounds very dodgy if he never mentioned anything about the colour change, mileage and stuff as usually that is the first thing you should mention to him when checking the bike. I always do a MOT check on the bike in question before meeting the seller and if they don't mention anything about what the service history records are like, I would simply walk away from the sale as if the seller wasn't even genuine with what is public knowledge info what chance have you got that they will tell you the stuff that isn't known.

Thinking of Offering Days out for Pillions in Stunning places
JackieOWheels replied to BMWTourer's topic in Touring
I think the concept is definitely cool but it's the execution that is the issue here which everyone has mentioned in the post already. It really does look like a very niche market you will be catering too. Maybe if you isolate it to one area where all landmarks are very accessible just to test the market you may be able to see if it is doable before expanding further afield. -
How significant is 20,000 miles on a second hand bike?
JackieOWheels replied to Beans's topic in Motorbike Chat
I would say it depends on how well each bike has been looked after, like will you have access to their full service history records which would show how well they has been maintained which in turn would aid you on your decision on which bike is a better choice (financially). On just mileage is not enough to see which one is better. -
