  1. The only difference between DAS and A2 is bike you do it on. DAS - bike need to be over 46bhp and you must be accompanied by instructor all the time. For restricted license you do it on a 125 and you can train with school or on your own bike. You can do it in any test centre and probably you can use any school for it as all of them have 125cc bikes. You can also buy a 125, get some experience on it and book/ pass tests on your own
  2. Sounds much better than getting a litre straight away lol. Just get a few insurance quotes as those sports 400s may still be quite expensive
  3. I had the same problem in Wakefield. Address didn't show up in gps or googlemaps. I worked out rough area where it supposed to be and went there on my bike to find it. Got lucky and found it in 15min Little map from DSA website helped a bit...
  4. For a first year or 2 get something not as extreme. Something like GPZ500 or naked 600 like Bandit / Hornet will be much cheaper to insure. Im 32 and Bandit TPFT is 160 for a year and zx6r for example is 295 TPFT so almost twice. for you it will be much more so check first
  5. I have bought similar ones: HG website Mine were £69. Link is unfortunately to german HG website but you can find those boots in stores here. They are very comfy and waterproof
  6. Its worth to get to some bike show. You can find there some great offers. 2 months ago I have bought kevlar jeans for £40 and nice leather gloves for £20 Also a week ago Ive bought nice textile jacket. It was RST Ventilator from J&S for £99. I have 2 leather jackets that I could sell. Grey/white Buffallo which is a bit thight on me and black one (dont know make) which is all right but slightly stiff lol. Im 6'1 and also 34-36 in waist. If you want new gear good shops are: J&S Accessories and Ghostbikes. They have good selection and good prices. Used gear then look on ebay and you should find some bargains there
  7. As others said. If you are car driver you will learn bike gears pretty fast as you already know and understand how clutch/gears work. Only thing thats left is to learn your bike First learn biting point, then do some start/stops and then get used to riding
  8. £800?? thats bad then. Ive failed mine 3 times already lol but I did it on 125 so thats £45... First time was due to stupid mistake - didnt use foot brake on em stop 2nd and 3rd time I failed due to using bike I didnt know at all... Now Im gonna try DAS...
  9. MOD1 is really easy if you are doing it on a bike you know well. I made mistake and used my gf's R125 which Ive ridden maybe 2hrs in total before. so Ive failed on slalom lol as I wasn't used to bike balance and put my foot down
  10. Good luck guys, have fun I have DAS assessment on Wednesday woohoo
  11. Thanks guys. And thats what Im going to do. I have booked an assessment session for next wednesday after work so I will see then how much training I need. Can't wait... edit: lol who voted for 4th option? Yeah, its tempting
  12. OK, I am quite happy with my chinese 125 but the problem is its a bit slow and I can't keep up with my gf Also I look a bit stupid standing next to her R125 lol. I have managed to save £2000 and now I have choice: - spend about £150 to make my current bike faster (got that planned and its not too hard lol) then do tests on it and get a restricted bike after extra year of saving cash - get a R125 and ride for a year, pass my tests on it next summer (I don't really mind it) or - do a DAS and get a big bike for £1500 left in next month (very tempting but its really hard to part with £500 for a 3-4 days riding ) To be honest I realise that DAS is much better option but I still want to hear your opinions Soooo, don't be shy and tell me what you think
  13. I do the same. Always trying to keep my thumb on the switch and I cancel it as soon as I finish my maneuvre
  14. Not a liar, I am just used to snow and ice from my country and always had great fun when it was slippery, even more than on dry roads. I'm not saying I like to freeze my arse off but I love power slides Although last time I did it on crap moped over 15 years ago lol Now I'm just a sensible rider not scared of any weather
  15. I can't really see any problem with it. They just ask you to follow signs to some place for some time and they say clearly if you make a mistake you won't fail. Can't see anything hard in looking at the signs really....
  16. To do a CBT or any training you WILL need a provisional license. And to get that license I think you just need an UK address. You will have to send your passport with £50 fee and you will get your provisional license. Read here: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/NeedANewOrUpdatedLicence/DG_10012514
  17. ...fail And this time it was a small disaster lol. Missed 2 observations, put my foot down on u-turn and lost my balance, put my foot down and stopped on slalom What a shame... Roll on 3rd time lucky
  18. I am using one I have bought for £10 I was quite surprised with movie quality. It is really ok. I just need a bigger memory card as on 1GB I have I can record only about 10min movie...
  19. If it doesn't start now at all check if your kill switch isn't on by accident. Also like WF says, there may be not enough petrol. Check if your tap can be set on reserve or just fill her up
  20. ebike is doing pay-as-you-go insurance and there is one more company but I forgot their name. Just google "short term bike insurance"...
  21. I agree with that. Not stopping at STOP sign is quite bad, at least thats what I have been taught. But on the other hand if that was his only issue then instructor could just pull over and have a chat with your dad about it and then continue the training I had to read it a few times as well lol

    2 stroke advice

It depends mostly if you will do it yourself or take it to the garage as the most expensive is labour. If you are handy with tools I am sure you could do it fairly cheap. Can't give you exact price but I guess £200-£300 would be absolute maximum. Couldn't find a kit for tdr but top end rebuild kit for Aprilia RS125 is £60 from ebay...Clicky ebay link

I wouldn't say too "too much". You just need to check if its engine has been rebuild recently. If not then it will be up to you to do that and you will be able to do another 8-10k miles until another rebuild
  24. I would say b). If you buy a 125 you will have to pass MOD1 again and then another try for MOD2 so it would cost you more. And even on 125 theres no guarantee you would pass. Give it another go, you can't be unlucky every time
