  1. It's usually from F8 that most get triggered. Also sea waves are very different to lake waves wrt sea sickness. Problem is the remaining few need to keep sailing for another 48h until the rest comes back online. PS: when keeping an eye on a few folks in dodgy weather - count them. Also include yourself in that count, so if you're getting rescued then they know how many to look for...
  2. Welcome to 2% of population then!
  3. Good call, but don't use WD40 for that. Use silicone 'tune up' grease instead. I use it on my outboards - never had a problem. WD40 will stop 'working' pretty quickly, silicone grease will last you a season.
  4. Come to think of it... Don't remember a single dry sailing trip - and I don't intend to change this memory!
  5. Jetboil, you won't be buying twice - and the enjoyment is worth the price! They give you an orange clip-on thingy to stabilize, never had problems on uneven ground. You can also get a metal ring to use small pots with jetboil - I use it for Moka coffee pot. When boiling water it doesn't need any wind shielding - been in Thetford forest few days ago. It was +1C and windy, brew was ready in promised 90 seconds. For Moka you need a bit of wind shield - because Moka pots don't have these clever fins that capture all the heat.
  6. SWMBO decided we're not buying anything in Jan... so I'm going through emergency reserves This one is 70% hand-crafted stuff that needs to be respected. Definitely no viruses will survive!
  7. My plans? Finally do advanced IAM and then "graduate" from XJ6 - not yet sure to what... As for tonight? COVID-compliant visit to Scotland:
  8. If you're in that neck of the woods, spend a day here: https://www.wieliczka-saltmine.com/
  9. XJ6 (naked) was the bike I did my DAS on. I disengaged my inbuilt "complicator" and found myself a faired version of it with ABS. It's light to handle (dunno, maybe good weight distribution), I can control how lively it is by choosing rpms (if I keep it below 5k/6k then it's normal, if I crank it up above 9k then it becomes nicely lively), which helps with gaining experience - that's really important for me. I'll sell it on in a year when I'm ready for a next one. It wasn't that expensive, binned it once already (no damage thanks to crash bungs) so gives me fully "stress free" experience - well, stress level is limited to £2.5k.
  10. XJ6!!! Get yourself XJ6 Diversion F ABS and enjoy
  11. I was debating between a dedicated satnav or phone. Got myself a phone holder, we'll see if it works on longer trips. The best satnav app IMO is Sygic - got it almost 10 years ago. The timing of spoken directions is just perfect - I don't need to look at the screen, the phone tells me what to do at the exact point when it's needed. Google maps timing is much worse. If this stuff doesn't work, Garmin it will be...
  12. Don't be torn on this one, you don't HAVE to kill anyone if you're going the wrong way. These were just thug gypsies, fook all to do with Romanians. I work with a few Romanians scattered across the world and they're fooking good as gold!!!! What we need here is a bit of "Texas like" approach. That'll scare the shit out of kiddie scumbags!
  13. After my first test ride (one day after passing MOD2, with 1k excess), I asked the salesman if he's not going to check if the bike was returned ok. His answer? "You're not limping, that's a pretty good sign"
  14. That's what I like about my XJ6 - I decide how much "fun factor" I want by staying either below 6000 or above 8000 rpm. No need for any mode switches between "sport" and "relaxed".
  15. My bullsh&t detector got triggered. Why does it not say "which gives best tyre grip possible both in dry and wet". WTF means "optimal"??
  16. And then go get something good quality, like Wera, so it can last 30 years. My Wera allen keys are 15 years old so far. I'll lose faster than break it...
  17. In the rib I always cover electrical contacts with silicone dielectric grease (tune-up grease). Keeps the water out.
  18. Make another post, ideally include a screenshot and a question why they've deleted it. Tweet it as well for good measure, once you "parallel post"on more than one social platform or gets difficult to delete
  19. I see two options for SIM: 1. But a prepaid tablet SIM from 3. I did that, prepaid 60GB for 2 years - that is in my car. 2. Giffgaff. Their cheapest monthly (£6) win do what you need. Unlimited calls and 500G of data per month. As for the phone, I'm the wrong person to advise.
  20. Use them for a few weeks and then get yourself a Christmas present and buy base layers made from Merino wool, you'll see (feel?) the difference. My base layers go for sailing, skiing, now also motorbiking -quite a universal thing.
  21. What they mean to heat it is to submerge the acf50 container in warm water NOT add hot water to the ACF50 liquid OK, see the confusion now. Next time I'll do it on purpose I meant "dilute with something else than water", otherwise we'll have emulsion - as much help as chocolate teapot
  22. I'd hope even in these "chemically correct" days you can dilute things with some better-than-water stuff! Kerosene, maybe a bit of petroleum ether (don't know if this is still politically correct, in the old days this was a "go-to" gunk remover in the garage). The more it stinks, usually the better Acetone would be great for mixing, but plastics may not like it too much (unless someone can figure out how to make acetone evaporate before it hits the bike).
  23. Just bought one. Now all I need is a nice few days to wash and dry out the bike. Then I'll see if this is worth anything. If you warm ACF up in hot water, does it go neat or do you need to dilute?
