  1. for security, your best bet is to get a lock that you can lock to the railings and put a cover over the bike.
  2. it sounds like a loose chain slapping on the swing arm to me. I know you said he checked the tension, but what is it at at the moment? chains may have tight spots, so it's best to check the tension, rotate the wheel and check it again, rotate and check, rotate and check. that way you will find the high points and low points of the chain. ideally you should set the tension at it's tightest point to stop the chain snapping (which is rare, so don't worry about this) or wearing faster. with the tension set, if at it's loosest point, the chain hits the bottom of the swing arm, you may need a new chain.
  3. I ALWAYS wear mine zipped together, coming off at 30 can still slide your jacket up, leaving you back vulnerable to major road rash
  4. looks like he was doing 75/80 max on the straighter bits of road and a lot slower through the corners. Thats not even fast enough to get banned, for a 1000cc that IS slow haha so your laughing that its slow then you complain about others riding too fast!! No, the laughing wasnt laughing because it was slow, it was laughing at my own comment to show that wasn't a serious one. And I was trying to defend him from a comment about it being too fast, I wasn't bringing up the speed he was riding just to be a dick, which is what it looks like out of context oh by the way anyone can do 110 in a straight line! where you loose out is getting to the speeds as quick as them it takes you twice as long we dont usually ride down roads that have long straights, but I see your point, the acceleration is great, but surely the added weight means that cornering is bad? I have a mate that went from an SV to a blackbird and is thinking about getting another SV purely because of the handling
  5. Just dont become one of those riders with a 1000cc... The majority of my mates have thous now, which is annoying because they think anything under 110mph on roads with a 60 limit is slow... Its a pain in the ass and its made me stop riding with them. Its fine every now and again, but not EVERY ride.. Personally I still dont see the point of owning a thou for road use. Glad to hear you had a lot of fun though!
  6. squeez them together as you normally do and watch how long it takes them to expand. If it takes less than 3 seconds, your buying cheap ones lol. i had that issue then changed to laser lite plugs and they work brilliantly!

  8. you havent done what I did when I first got my bike have you and presumed the fuel gauge was correct? Mine said i still had fuel when I didnt, check the tank lol. It does sound like you are running out of petrol though, or a fuel line is blocked. Why was the fuel changed a month ago? If it had been left sitting for a while then its possible the fuel filter is blocked also ps, welcome to the forum, say hi in the newbies section
  9. I know you said you have sorted it, but to me, what tango said sounds more like the cause. That, plus as soon as people say its fixed, the problem usually comes straight back. If you have the same issue again, try opening the fuel cap and starting it again straight away. If it starts fine, then its time to check the tank breather hole
  10. my ex has to replace her gear selector fork (or something. I was only half listening) but has to wait about 3-4 weeks for the part to turn up. I hope, whatever the problem is, the parts come in a lot quicker than that for you! Although I'm sure I could get the parts within a week from somewhere else, but she said she didn't want my help, so screw her haha It sounds like its something in the gearbox though, rather than anything bent that you will be able to see without taking it apart. If it was the lever/connector rod then I would have thought you would have problems getting it into other gears too

    lost keys

^this If you get a new ignition barrel, you will want a new fuel and seat lock too. Or you can get race fuel caps which are keyless
  12. A bit of a random one this, but I was looking into paint colour codes for someone who had a bit of rash on their fairings. The Fazer code for example is SM1 for the silver paint and you can find touch up pens under that code online, but if I was to take a bike to be professionally painted, would they use colour codes to get the exact match? I only ask because whilst looking into it, I have come across people who have said they have had to take parts of the bike in so they can get the closest match as possible. I'm sure at some point I am going to throw a bike down the road and if this ever happens and I need it repaired but am asked to take a part in, is it best to go somewhere else that has the paint codes on hand? It just seems a bit odd to me that some places do it by eye when they are professional companies. Or is this to take into account sun/weather damage to the paint around it?
  13. I'm planning on going in 2015, have fun though!

    Radiator leak!

http://www.tshirthell.com/shirts/products/a324/a324.gif?v11301bss2 I'm sorry, I had to. I have no useful information to add to this post, so I shall go away now
  15. bandit does the same thing. It just needs to warm up. Adjust the choke so revs at the normal range, wait for it to warm up (which could be 10 mins) then take it off If it has a choke, then surely its carbed, no?
  16. Also one in Devon on the 14th of this month http://www.daat.org/motorcycle-ride-out-enter-here/
  17. looking at these pictures, I'm glad I couldnt make it... You all look like you are part of some cult, ya massive bunch of weirdos! I shall try my best to come next year though
  18. make sure your tyres are pumped up to the specified pressure Also, lean yuor uper body into the corners as much as you can, dont just turn the bike in
  19. Haha, I was only joking. And I went on to advise free/cheap ways of trying to fix it, so nurgh *sticks tongue out and makes a raspberry noise^
  20. If I'd read this post before, I would have said - if your lights work fine, its probably not the battery. Kick starting does the same thing as push starts (ie it turns the engine around without using the push start) Your problem is you have a chinese bike personally I would go down the route of something being blocked or it not getting petrol though for some reason. Does it have enough fuel in it? How did it cut out when you were riding? Sudden or gradual? If gradual then there could be a problem with the fuel getting through - that seems the most likely to me, but checking the spark plugs may be beneficial aswel as being the cheapest thing to do, and this will rule out possible HT lead issues. Im in the middle of watching a film, so someone else can tell you how to check the plugs also the above may not make sense as im preoccupied lol, but basically check the sparks, if all are fine then stick some carb cleaner down your air box thats what I'd do anyway
  21. Your welcome
  22. Kerosene/paraffin oil works on ANYTHING!... just not the brakes obviously. You wight want to wash it off after though, as it is an oil. But it does come off easily. That o rsilicone spray. I think they both have basically the same stuff in them
  23. I was looking into these for CBR's and non-drill ones connect in the same place but are on brackets etc which means they come out in a gap in the fairings. The problem with these is they bend much easier and sometimes snap in a crash. Getting ones you need to drill will help in a crash a lot better
