  1. really? Half 6 in the morning on a sunday is pretty early imo haha lol yeah I guess you're right
  2. I wouldn't worry about it. The times you said aren't that early/late that there aren't going to be other people awake. Obviously you need to be considerate to your neighbours so I wouldn't rev the engine excessively. I certainly wouldn't turn off the engine and coast down, as someone said you don't have full control of the bike and you won't have the benefits of engine braking.

    Exhausts

Possibly yes, but how many on here that have a non-standard exhaust have told their insurance company? And of all the people that haven't, how many have been pulled over? The police aren't going to waste their time pulling over every bike that has a noisy exhaust. They might however pull you over for speeding or dangerous/reckless riding and go over the bike with a fine toothed comb noting the noisy can, small number plate, lack of rear reflector and your tinted visor, and then they might (in the loosest possible term) want to have your bike put on a dyno to check that it doesn't produce more than 33bhp! The odds are pretty low imo.

Cop: so i'd like to take the bike away for it to be tested to ensure its still legal to ride on your restricted licence. Rider: I'll start walking home then shall i.... Can they do that? I thought the only thing they could do, providing the bike is taxed, MOT'd and insured is issue you with a notice to get it checked/rectified at an MOT station
  5. Yeah the noise is immense! Makes the hairs in the back of my neck stand up. The change of direction is impressive too. One piece of advice; take some ear plugs. You'll still be able to hear everything but they just make it a bit more bearable lol
  6. Nice. I've been to the last 3 British Grand Prix's and would love to go to one of the classic European circuits, Spa/Monza etc. Enjoy!
  7. Glad you had a good run out guys. Sorry I didn't make it but Hunstanton isn't much of a ride out for me.. I went to Ely and back using as little of the A10 as I could
  8. Well they do look pretty low.. You can see on the pad that fell apart that it has been rubbing on the disc too..
  9. 4mm isn't that low, they only have about 10mm when they're new.. Well it happened to you so yes, it is possible. Does the car sit around and not get used much? I have heard of pads binding to the discs so much that the friction material gets ripped clean off. It can also happen to brake shoes if they haven't been cleaned for a long time. It might be that the pad had seized in the caliper and was getting too hot which caused it to fail.
  10. lol, says me who was scuppered by a tight axle nut today and can't adjust the chain.. :-/
  11. Surely it will be cheaper still if you fit them yourself? Can't be that difficult..
  12. I'd go with item number 8 on the pic.. Part number 61445-17G00 http://www.ronayers.com/Fiche/TypeID/26 ... REAR_WHEEL

+1 Thats what I thought. Sounds like there is lack of drive from the gearbox. possible internal fault in gearbox or the front sprocket.

  15. Hi, welcome, again. To answer your questions.. You need a provisional licence and to have completed the CBT to ride anything up to 125cc, this needs to be renewed every two years. You don't need to have a full driving licence. For a full bike licence you'll need to complete the CBT, pass a motorcycle theory test and mod 1+2 on any bike over 500cc. You can do the tests on a 125 but you'll be restricted for 2 years to 33bhp, currently you don't need to re-test after 2 years but there are new laws coming in next year. If you don't want to pay for a DAS course, you can always have lessons once/twice a month and spread the payments that way. It only took me 2-3 months, including doing CBT and theory tests. I think I paid a total of £600. There is nothing to stop you from doing the CBT, theory and mod1/2 without taking lessons but there is a good chance you'll fail without any kind of training or riding experience. More expense if you have to do more than one test, they are currently around £75..
  16. Thats like asking how long is a piece of string.. What condition is it in? MOT? Any history? Any bike can be good or bad, just depends on how well its been looked after.

I would have thought that if it goes in to first without stalling then the clutch is working ok. What happens when you release the clutch lever? Can you release it all the way and let go, and still the bike doesn't move? What about other gears? Can you put the bike in first gear, without the engine running and then push the bike forward?
  18. Congrats! You've taken the first steps to getting your licence! Don't worry about stalling it, just use more revs to get away, exactly like you would do in a car
  19. Yeah just outside King's Lynn. See you there!
  20. Shall we say 9.30 at the a17/a47 junction? Pullover roundabout at King's Lynn? Sounds good mate.
  21. Hi Terry. Kings Lynn - Boston - Spilsby - Louth - Market Rasen is 80-odd miles and about 2 1/2 hours with stops I reckon. Probably half that on your 'busa No real route planned, was just going to make it up as I went along but If you know the roads etc and know a decent route then I'm happy to meet up near you and follow you.
  22. Thinking of doing this run from King's Lynn tomorrow (Sunday 12th Aug) if anyone's about for a ride out or meet up somewhere?
  23. Umm, monkey bikes?? Why not just go for an intensive course? Either now, or after September doesn't really matter but if you have to do the CBT again it will cost you another £100 (enough to get a decent helmet)
