  1. ive also since found out his is a r65 not r80 so i doubt if much will help him
  2. are you keep it for spares or will you be selling unwanted parts off as a mates dad has been restoring r80 for ages
  3. check condition of the cable and also it might have damaged drive and be slipping either at the wheel or in the main speedo itself
  4. do you want plastic bare metal or chrome and which ever type you want it will need to be universal with either pre drilled slots or bolt holes in as you dont want and possibly cannot get original
  5. the 3 type will be different heat ranges i expect but the most common one is the one listed in wemoto link the bike should run on that if its g ot good spark fuel supply and good compression and soaking botom of spark plug in fuel will stop it sparking completely because it will act like its flooded then.so you need to make sure that you have got a good fuel supply with 2 stroke oil as well or damage the engine you need to make sure you have got a good spark at the spark plug by resting the plug against the engine with the cap fitted and you need to check compression,if the bike has been sitting for many years the crank seals might of dried out and be allowing gasses to pass out of crankcase once you have got all 3 of these correct then it should run
  6. does the manual show or tell you where both fuses are located if so check to see if they are in place
  7. http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/suzuki/ts_1 ... _plug_ngk/ you should only replace with the same plug a longer one is likely to come into contact with the piston
  8. its a kymco so it will have its odd quirks
  9. box hill in surrey is a nice run out from you and the ace cafe is not huge amount of miles there are loads of places it depends on how far you want to ride we used to head down to box hill for mid morning then lunchtime hit the south coast for lunch then have nice steady ride home later in the day at road legal speeds of course
  10. you would still have dash lights and indicators, have you made sure you have put it in neutral and got the green light showing on the dash if yo have got neutral with no light then battery dead it might kick start, personally i would be contacting the guy who sold it asking if the battery was dead when he left home to ride it over to you and see if you can talk him into sharing cost of new battery
  11. the op that had the problem has not been back onto the forum since 2013 but judging by what he said something broke inside the main speedo itself causing it to stop working
  12. put a rocker switch in feed to the coil flick it one way for on one way for off easy
  13. apply for the v5c including payment you can supply frame and engine number so hopefully they will issue you the v5 unless you know a friendly copper who might bend the rules and do a pnc check for you to find out the reg
  14. you need some kind of proof that you own the bike as you have no idea who is last registered keeper and also keep it on a sorn once you get the v5 and yep it will cost you £25 to get it,but even for field use if you cant prove you got the bike off last registered keeper then you stand a chance of having it seized by police as they cant prove who owns it
  15. due to the age of the bike it might well have a different year engine as they did get a hard life when they were a lot newer so untill you get the v5 for it you wont be sure if it is original engine or not
  16. has got to be 1980 or older as tango says as suzuki changed to a 14 digit frame number system in 1981 and should look like this when fully built as they are a road legal trials bike and not a full on motor crosser
  17. to identify the year is there a metal plate riveted onto the headstock right on the front between the forks if not you will need the frame number and should be able to ring a company like robinsons foundry who are suzuki agent and they might be able to find year from frame number it will be early to mid 80's in my mind as it has drum rear brake and also twin rear shocks
  18. that could often give you a poor credit score as it means companies cant earn a lot of interest on payments out of you so you are not worth lending to
  19. welcome to the forum a pic or 2 might help us work out what part you mean
  20. yep filter could well be the problem also check the tank isnt creating a vacuum due to blocked breather
  21. oldskoolsuzuki is a good site for air/oil cooled suzukis lots of helpfull info on there and normally quite helpfull guys but of course nowhere near as nice or as good as us lot on here.robinsons foundry is good source of parts if you need new items,if you have to replace things like fork seals then only use genuine manufacturer items..............ps some pics would be good
  22. what did you wash exhaust out with if it contained water then it is possbily just the excesses left in the pipe
  23. make them aware that there might be a problem while the bike is within the warranty period it will give you extra clout if something fails after the warranty is up if they dont find anything wrong nwo
  24. so the exhilaration was the not true part then
