  1. check the fuel filter if its got one and also the air filter might be clogged from all the dusty dry weather we have had
  2. good luck with the new place its amazing how the set ups can vary so much from company to company, just dont give up and keep at it im sure they want you to pass as much as you want to pass
  3. campell is the make of the exhaust as far as i remember they were a common replacement univeral fitting to fit on many different old british bikes back in the day finding a new left hand one might be bit of a task but i expect there are copies around but might mean visiting autojumbles and the like to find one
  4. coils tend to break down as they get hot if they are going to break down dirty carbs will play up all the time its quicker and easier to replace coils first on that bike than it is get the carbs off and clean/rebuild them
  5. try paris there they like motorbike shaped dents anywhere on their cars
  6. try pulling the clutch in just before stopping and see if it pops into neutral any easier then while the wheels are still turning,is the chain adjusted correctly as that can also give you problems which can vanish as everything warms up and expands
  7. if the bike was just left outside and he has done the mot on it did he leave invoice with it as well or any kind of note about charges ?
  8. at least its home thats main thign gayle now get out and enjoy whats left of summer on it
  9. how its gone gayle has the vfr made it back home complete with new mot???
  10. if you are worried about it being locked then that means the oil is now sitting above the piston rings one way to tell is to check oil level and see if its reading low then its got to have gone somewhere if its reading ok then chances are no oil above pistons, will the bike engine turn over if you put it into gear and gently try to push it?
  11. you can only replace the output shaft by doing a complete dismantle of the engine including removing the cylinder head and barrel due to how the main engine cases come apart on that engine so unless you konw what you are doing and got decent tools it will be a big job and dont forget you would also need full gasket set for the rebuild as well
  12. you would be best off going to look at the bike that way you can check the forks where they come through the yokes to make sure they are not bent there and that the wheel is not damaged or buckled, also any parts for the nsr if in good condition are selling for very good prices now most of the time so dont expect it to be a cheap repair job
  13. cant tell a thing from those pics far to dark and fuzzy
  14. welcome to the forum chances are the rev counter is electronic so it could be abad connection somewhere or a broken wire between the clocks and the cdi unit under either the tank or seat, you might do well to find a wiring diagram online you can download to help you in tracing the wire
  15. no mention of speed forks being bent frame damage engine casing damage wheel buckled lots more info needed really unless the bike is very very cheap and then its worth risking but if its anything more than £100 then more info required and does it still run?
  16. the ign switch should be bolted into the top yoke and come away with it you will need to unplug the wiring from it and as you have removed the large top dome nut and then it should lift off.the nut i think you mean in 2nd pic is one of the 2 that hold the fairing bracket on and should not need to be touched
  17. it could be anything from ht lead braking down to a fouled up spark plug or a serious fault engine internals depends on how honest the person selling is being
  18. that looks like it only the drain /air vent for the tank shouldnt need to be conected
  19. by sunday morning and come pack up time with long ride home looming you will be wishing the ground had been softer on your back and im speaking from experience
  20. no removing one of the 4 lids wont work look at the top rear of the airbox and see if you can see a long slot in casing that will be the intake or failing that if i remember corectly the filter is fitted from the side in them so open the filter bit and spray it in there
  21. This too, expect i don't have a mattress, and cook stuff! should get yourself inflatable mattress only £15 fold flat and easy to borrow a pump from someone at the rally to pump it up makes the ground much softer
  22. not always they often have it online for a set period then on general auction day its there as well to see if they get more for it then the auction is finished or at least thats how they used to do it you will need to check with them
  23. should you not be asking permission to lift info from registered users on this site and add them to your own site ????
