  2. sounds like it could be choking up is it running ok with choke turned off or are you keeping it on full choke while just running it and has it been given a blast down the road to clear the crap out of the exhaust if there is any in there

  5. there are a couple of old threads on the forum done by a member called polecat from where he restored a honda 250 G5 i think it was might be worth you searching back through to see if you can find it would be worth reading before you made t he leap
  6. tell him 300 and the bike goes wave cash under his nose that often works well in helping them make their mind up
  7. yep can always call thats not a problem adam
  8. are you doing them in norwich or littleport if littleport you can give me a shout if you get stuck
  9. check the earth lead from the battery as well where it meets the frame there might be a 2nd earth there from the loom and where you tugged the loom about it might of spread the earth tag a bit, also drop seat off see if there is an earth around the rear light/indicator area going on to the subframe and check that while there you could also find which wire is the earth and spike into it and earth it to the frame and see if anything changes
  10. most of the servicing bits are out there brake pads/shoes filters then crap cheap exhausts definatly not original tanks or panels unless very lucky and a deep pocket
  11. if you have made a hash of it then you will be better off repalcing with new cable saves being left lots of miles from home with 2 halves of a cable
  12. one that lubricates the engine nicely any decent quality 10w40 should be ok lot of the time its down to the person doing the work and what they prefer also if its ridden hard and fast a lot then go better quality
  13. yes you will need to increase the size of the main jet to allow for the extra air the air filter is drawing in how much will you need to increas it by is guesswork prety much a case of trial and error untill you find the right size you might also need to raise the needle one notch if i ts adjustable
  14. some parts are easy to locate but chances are they will be pattern parts and not genuine honda/suzuki/yamaha/kawasaki depending on models you are looking at some of them still have fairly good 2nd hand parts about but as always you would end up buying far more than you need just so you have decent spares stock if you see them at the right prices
  15. as far as im aware you will not need ro retake the theory test but i might be wrong i konw when i done my hgv courses because i passed theory doing class 2 i didnt need to re do it to get test done on artics
  16. well done another step in the right direction
  17. i would start with a visual check round the bike in daylight before riding it again and check all nuts and bolts are tight or see if any appear to be missing, check chain tightness as well you will be surprised how noises transfer around the bike
  18. thats the main cylinder head gasketyou have linked which is the one between the head and barrel of the bike, the one you need to search for is the cam cover gasket if it needs replacing lots of them are rubber and reusable
  19. if the dealer sold you the bike with a warranty on it and you first took it in with the fault within warranty period then the very fact the same problem has shown up again says they didnt fix it correctly so even if its out of warranty they have a duty of care to fix the fault free of charge due to it being ongoing from within the time frame
  20. yes the marina is open and fully working again but they are still tr ying to iron out new staff/training issues there has been a few bikes there tuesday evenings but all the outside benches are not in use yet to to the new turf having been laid the patio area is all ok tho
  21. have you checked the chain and made sure that its correctly adjusted and not so loose it jumping teeth on the sprocket
  22. well done really pleased you are not giving up and good luck you will get there in the end
  23. when turning the ign on you should hear the exup valve make a whirring noise setting itself which means you should see the cables move and then as stu says on paddock stand in gear slowly open throttle and see if cables move at all
  24. as the shop has admitted not doing the work on it correctly i would be passing it back to them telling them to get it sorted as they promised they had and as its warranty work t here will be no charge to you even if they need to remove and change the exup valve
  25. you can have your own bike deliverred to the cbt test centre but it has to be fully legal tax insurance and mot and they will allow you to use it but if they decide that you are not up to cbt standard and need more training then your bike is stuck there ntill you can either pass cbt and ride home with smile on your face or get someone with van/trailer to collect
