  1. it IS a pig of a job but can be done just spray the wd40 or carb cleaner into the air intake on the airbox you dont need to open it up to do that,it might get the bike to run for a few seconds but you will still need to spend a few hours removing cleaning and replacing the carbs
  2. if its been sat that long then chances are carbs need taking off and cleaning spray a bit of carb cleaner or wd40 into air box and see it if starts then only a tiny amount tho
  3. the larger bore hose with the filter in line will go to the bigger hose outlet on fuel tapthe other hose with it is likely to be the vaccum for the tap and goes to outlet on base of tap hose coming out of the bottom of the tank is very possibly tank breaher and just needs to be left loose but i might be wrong on that one but fuel tap definatly needs 2 hoses test which one is vacum pipe by turning engine over on starter and see which hose is sucking air in using ur finger

  5. well im not going to make it this year at all guys no surprising everyone sat afternoon again like last year just family things have got in the way plus ive pulled my back and camping would finish it off at the moment hope everyone has a great time and look forward to seeing the pics

  7. it would be interesting to see where the law would stand on this one if the land is private you have no right to be on it unles with permission from land ownerbut anyway itss getting bit drawn out now good luck if you do go down this route and i hope she passes without any problems keep us informed of progress
  8. unless you are undergoing training or the test then she HAS NOT got a licence to ride the bike on ANY public land at all and if the police came to see whats going on she can get done for riding without the correct licence for the bike which will also void the insurance and could result in you losing the bike and having it crushed and also getting done for knowingly allowing someone to use the bike who hasnt got correct test pass for it

  13. have you set the float levels in any of the carbs to make sure there is enough fuel in the bowl to get sucked in by the engine?,and also checked fuel pipe to make sure it hasnt collapsed inside restricting flow to carb and causing problem that way?
  14. spray some easy start or wd40 into air filter area see if it kicks into life then
  15. dheck the plugs inside the headlight make sure they are all clean aand pushed together correctly and also check the fuse box main wiring plug make sure thats all nice and clean as well the problem has to be something like that for it to work when you poke the loom and losing everything on one side of handlebar sounds like plugs or even a bad earth
  16. mig for all steel work but dont get one of those poxy gasless ones never seen anyone get a good weld with them yet
  17. it would help if your location ws shown in profile,also please dont take offence but yo are a new member trying to take advantage of knowledge learned over years by others and the offer of a token of 2 for in exchnge might help as there are a feww members down that way
  18. your mechanic sounds about right if it has exhaust like that on it then good chance the roller weights will need increasing and variator sorting
  19. hi and welcome to the forum please pop into newbies and introduce yourself if you plan to use the forum and join in now and again it is a good place to be in general lots of help and advice on all matters motorcycling. no idea how to solve your speedo problem as its electronic it could be break in the cable somewhere,could be the sensor altho looks ok has given up but one good thing is it is not part of the mot that the speedo works they just write down current mileage at the time of the test and thats it
  20. have you checked amount of oil in gearbox and chain condition?
  21. powder coating is the way to go with the frame and now they canvary shades along the lines of th frame so if you wanted it t o fade one colour into another they can do it just remember that anything powder coated needs to be blasted be it glass or bead or the nylon balls just to make sure frame is completly clean and best to handle with gloves after that and get it straight to powder coaters unless they blast inhouse as well also cant powder onto filler but would be worth doing wheels as well once you know which ones you ae going to use

  23. get it repaired ricky that looks like they should be able to plug it without to many problems
  24. it will definatly need the carbs cleaning out as the perol will of gone into a gel like state or even dried out and blocked the internal holes up in the jets
  25. as above you will need to remove the carbs and take the float bowls off the bottoms of them and strip and clean all the jets outs,if you and any helpers are unsure give me a shout im only in chatteris
