Loosen the tight spots with two pairs of mole grips. Adjust chain as slack as you can without hitting swingarm. Ride as slow as possible, preferably 30mph.

Cheapest, most effective tune up mod you can do to a bike. 15quid for a front sprocket. I did -1+2 on my 98 Blade and it was awesome on acceleration. Floated the front wheel in first 3 gears. I just accepted the error on the speedo and usually had a satnag on anyway. Do it NOW!!!

I used Hammerite smooth gloss black aerosol on an aircooled race engine Never had a problem.

Red rubber grease is for brake seals, not steel pins.

Carbs need a thorough clean. Best to have then ultrasonically cleaned. Remind me where you are Alex.

Vacuum is normally very small bore pipe to fuel tap. Breather tends to be bigger, maybe 6mm bore.

Sorry if I misunderstood your meaning. Are you saying that there is now a vacuum connection between the engine/carbs and your fuel tap? The other tube from your carbs could be a breather and doesn't need connecting to anything.

You will run out of fuel if you ride without a vacuum connection to the tank. Why do you ask for advice and then ignore it???
