  1. I'm sure one of those links was for an M12 nut for your bike? Bloody bike shops. Ask Hastings Motorcycle Centre if they have one? Take spindle with you, they are about 1/2 mile from you , Beaconsfield road I think.
  2. Only an hour away as well.
  3. Going to Brands on Sunday for a Thundersports race meeting. Never been before , but it was £1 for the weekend!!!
  4. Double congrats mate.

    Wheel Bearings

You don't get handy without getting yer hands dirty. Wheel bearings are pi$$ easy to do. Just need a hammer and a drift( piece of tube or bar slightly smaller than bearing inner race. Why give money away???

    Wheel Bearings

Yeah always nice to give away yer hard earned cash to someone who will probably do a crap job on it.
  7. Well it was raining all day today , so I completed a job on somebody else's carbs and then started work on the racebike cylinder head. Gave it a quick clean with a plastic fibre wheel in my drill. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1444_zps725f3735.jpg Cleaned up the exhaust threads. Then before I removed the valves, I thought I'd check how well sealed to the head they already were. I poured paraffin into the inlet and then exhaust ports and then checked the combustion chambers. No paraffin at all. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1446_zps750f0c85.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1443_zps87e3d4cc.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1445_zpsdeb4680a.jpg I removed the paraffin and then thought I'd have a look at the valve seats anyway. I found the valve spring compressor that I'd bought 30 years ago to work on my original sprint bike. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1447_zps1db4606e.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1449_zps335bca7b.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1450_zpse6ecfc53.jpg Sure enough, the valves had recently been lapped to the head. Saving me a normally laborious job. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1451_zps450d1355.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1453_zps513e64eb.jpg With the inlet valves out, I felt around the area where the valve seats meet the head and there was a ridge on both valve ports. I set up my Dremel type tool with it's flexible drive and ground the seal and head until there was no step all around it. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1454_zps801dce60.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1455_zps7c8d02d8.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1457_zps98a447e8.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1458_zpsf96ea4b8.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1462_zpsbe41863f.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1464_zps0db152fa.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1470_zpsff6e3d84.jpg Was going to clean up the casting marks in the inlet ports , but it's already been done! http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1459_zps69ce4d1e.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1465_zps1a2e3ee4.jpg I know I should grind the tops off the valve guides and blend them to the head, but I'm not that skilled with the grinding tools and I don't wanna risk doing any damage.
  8. .You don't need a new spindle. Washer is 12mm for swingarm. Dunno what size at back wheel spindle. I have some , but up here. Bike barn should know. You can ride bike without washers?
  9. Good news! Ask em for a washer for swingarm and wheel spindle as well. I have em , but won't get to Hastings for a few days? Unless you wanna fit nut and then have a ride up to Northiam.?
  10. Got loads of M12 coarse thread nuts , but no fine thread Suggest you buy this off eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JIALING-JH125 ... 4cfc02c803 or this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/300827954507? ... 1423.l2649 Make sure it is the correct M12 fine thread nut for your bike.?
  11. Nice one Ian
  12. It won't drain the battery as long as your alternator has enough capacity to keep it charged up. You may have a problem with the wires feeding current to the headlamp though? 35 watt lamp will take 3 amps, 55 watt will take 5 amps. You may need to double the thickness of your headlamp wiring or fit a relay or two? Then again , you may have no problems. Try it and see if the wiring gets hot, if it does, you need to do something.
  13. Will have a look for a M12 fine thread nut tomorrow and text you yes or no ?
  14. Summat like that yeah
  15. Could be something behind that "large cog", starter ring gear/alternator rotor ? Take it off and find out? Get a photo of what's behind it ?
  16. You have a loose contact inside the ignition switch. Replace switch with a good one or fairly soon you will have no ignition and a bike that won't start.
  17. Could have been a reaction with the damp air and the brake pads?
  18. Gimme a bell Ed
  19. Check with full left and full right lock.
  20. Check routing on cable mate. May tighten with steering on full lock one way and slack the other way. Should be 3mm at the lever.
  21. I thought Gayle said the forks felt alright at the top , but 20mm movement at the bottom? This could be fork bushes at the bottom of the stanchions. There was movement of the wheel? If so, remove calipers and spin the wheel , see if it is silent. If not sure, remove wheel and stick yer thumb in the bearing to feel for notchiness. If still not sure Gayle, gimme a bell.
  22. The pins are nowhere near the brake fluid Alex. Get on with it!!!
  23. I use a micro blowtorch to heat alloy around seized bolts and pins. When it's stinking hot, I spray Plumbers freeze spray on it. I do this three times as I grip the pin or bolt and gently waggle it until it is free. I've never been beaten yet!!!
