  1. Yep repairs should last longer than 8 months Gayle. Check fork oil levels as per a workshop manual. Check steering head bearings by putting bike on a paddock stand, lifting front off the ground with a jack. Grab bottom of fork legs with both hands and try pulling and pushing forward and back. If you feel a clicking, you need to tighten the two nuts under the top yoke.
  2. So you aren't gonna try heat and cold to free the pins off then?
  3. I have already PM'd my mobile number.
  4. Hello Moomintroll. I am just up the road in Northiam and Wednesday I will be in Hastings between 1100 and 1400. Would you like me to pop in or can you ride the bike up to Northiam?. I know a little bit about motorbike exhausts!!!
  5. Seeing the caliper helps Hodgy, thanks. If they are the same as Alex's? If as in the video I would first try heat and cold to break the seal between pin and caliper and then use long nosed molegrips to twist it free. If the pins stay in with a thread, it would be more of the same and if the allen head is damaged, drive a torx or star bit in there. Ultimately , Boothy's solution is the right one if you don't want to replace the pins. A very kind member of the Bandit Owner's Club gave me some stainless pins with the holes for the R clips in and I never had a problem after that. SO IT DOES HELP WHEN YOU CAN SEE THE ACTUAL CALIPER AND PINS USED AND HOW THEY ARE HELD IN !
  6. If not steering head bearings, check fork oil levels. If both the same, add another 30ccs to each leg and try it.
  7. I'm trying to help somebody Stu, it's up to them to post pix, not me searching for drawings! Some pins are held in with 1 or 2 R clips, some are screwed in with an allen key. Would be nice to see a picture or diagram?
  8. Moisture from the airbox vent pipe? Why don't you trace it back ?
  9. My wonderful wife overheard a conversation about my racebike. I have been offered a free paintjob and want it in it's original Deuce colours, as raced in Pro Stock by Pip Higham. She ran upstairs and found a copy of Superbike magazine from December 1980.Hopefully here is the front cover; http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/Deucecover_zps6bbfe75c.jpg
  10. If I can see the caliper and seized pins, I can better advise how to free them off Stu ?
  11. Post pix of seized pins please Alex?
  12. Thanks Sue, I will .
  13. Be great to see you and the gang there mate. There are no twin shock mounting points, just the pivot bearing for the GSXR single shock linkage. There are mounting points on the ET frame , so I will remove the arm braces, weld two shock mounting points on the arm and then weld slightly shorter braces in front of the mounting points.
  14. Those labels are too small for my old eyes mate. The pipe at the back of the tap is the vacuum pipe. Should connect to an inlet stub on the head. The two braided tubes are fuel supply pipes. The ones next to em are carb float bowl breathers, normally tubes from em go behind engine to atmosphere. The tank connections are either breathers or overflow tubes. They all go behind engine, usually. Those things on each carb could be vacuum connections for balancing the carbs or they contain an adjuster, maybe pilot jet or tickover for each carb?
  15. Cheers chaps. Here to help , and educate if yer interested. I have a wheel Bob, but it's in Northumberland waiting to go on a pallet with a race exhaust and some other goodies. Weighed the arm before fitting, it's alloy and weighs 12.5Kg Think I might end up making one if I have time.
  16. Gonna be a while yet Bob. Still waiting on a wheel that fits and a pro pipe exhaust. The engine casings are back together with just the gearbox output shaft in so I can make and fit the engine plates and then align the sprockets. Can't rebuild the engine until after that. I can strip and fettle the head though
  17. Well not much progress recently, too much DIY to do! Anyway, I received a parcel this morning: http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1406_zps1e9c5f15.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1407_zpsbd7e58b7.jpg Can you guess what it is yet??? Couldn't wait to get rid of the packaging . Here it is, made to fit a GSXR1100 Slabby dragbike. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1413_zps0ae6b42a.jpg And next to a stock Bandit 1200 arm. 10" longer than a stock arm http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1414_zpsd4659107.jpg Had to widen the frame a bit to fit it in. Will be making correct size top hat spacers to fit the stock bearings. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1417_zpsf7b3f137.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1416_zps0448fe83.jpg Fitted swingarm spindle and arm into modded frame and tried a spare 17" by 6" Triumph wheel, with 200mm tyre, that I happened to have lying around. Won't be using this combo though! http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1418_zpsa7579201.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1420_zpsc85f3dd2.jpg Only managed to lower the front end about 3/4", should be about 6" lower eventually.
  18. Can you get a pic of your clip and one of an undamaged one? May be able to make one ?
  19. Yep, either battery, reg/rec, alternator or wiring. You need to check some voltages with a multimeter.
  20. megawatt

    non starter

Try cleaning the ends of the heavy duty cables. Earth to battery, battery to solenoid and solenoid to starter motor. If it still clicks with a fully charged battery, remove the starter motor and spin it backwards a few times. Then spin it with a connection to earth, but watch out for sparks and that it doesn't jump out of your hand. If it spins , replace it and try again.
  21. I have some 1200 Bandit bars, somewhere?
  22. If you want trouble free motorcycling, stick to a standard airbox with a standard filter!
  23. Here to help mate.
  24. At least you are having a go Alex. Double check everything, read the manual properly and if in doubt , ask. You still have my number don't you?
  25. Has it got the standard exhaust and air filter?
