  1. Loctite? Why would you need that? If nut/ bolts tightened properly, you don,t need anything else. If still worried, use a drop of silicone. Always worked for me.
  2. No mate. Try Pledge, Turtle Wax etc.?
  3. Keep polishing or put wax on top.
  4. You need to check the spacing of the exhaust ports , the angle that the pipes exit the ports at and the clearance to the sump. I can probably mod the pipes to fit if they aren;t spot on or Titanium ?

    Exhaust repair

Do a proper repair and have it welded together. Putty is fo short term repairs or bodgers.
  6. I have a headstock stand for the Fireblade Bob. You have to make sure you have the correct size pin for the hole in the middle of the bottom yoke/stem. I usually use a rear paddock stand/ABBA stand and a jack under the exhaust manifold. You can use a triangular piece of plywood under the rear of the headstock , where the frame tubes come together?
  7. OK , so now it's running. Sell it before summat else goes wrong or it dissolves over winter. Buy a Jap bike?
  8. Sounds like the side with the worn out pad is doing all the work. The piston on the other side is sticking . Measure how far it goes in and how far it should go in.
  9. No similarities whatsoever between car and bike gearboxes. Might as well change the engine or better still the whole bike.
  10. If you supply drawings and dimensions , I can make them for you.
  11. You may have pinched the tank breather or fuel pipe. Try opening the fuel cap next time it stops.
  12. I have a Stebel Nautilus on my cruiser. Very loud.
  13. I,ve replied to your pm mate. Thanks eab, I could do with the work right now.
  14. Try freeing off the bobbins and then try em again on the tester.
  15. I still doubt that gears are available for a 125 ATM though Stu
  16. 99% certain that there,s nothing you can do within your gearbox. Get different sprockets or a different bike.

    Is it cheaper?

I normally take loose wheels to my local bike MOT/servicing/tyre supplier. They do the fitting and balancing and I put the wheels back on the bike. It's about £20/tyre for removing and refitting the wheels. I wouldn't trust a tyre speciallist to refit my wheels.
  18. Surely you can squat or lie down, to be able to move the centre part of the lower chain run up and down enough to check tension? If not, you must have worse knees than me!!!
  19. I don't understand what you are trying to achieve? Just loosen the rear wheel spindle nut, tighten the chain one flat at a time on both sides until chain tension is about right, tighten rear wheel spindle nut, check chain tension again whilst sat on bike. Job done. With bike on side stand. Simples.
  20. Yeah, they all have vacuum operated fuel taps. When I say fuel starvation, I mean not enough fuel being mixed with air in the carbs caused by heat. Didn,t the mk.1 600 have carb heaters?
  21. Sounds like fuel starvation to me.
  22. I measure the distance from the centre of the swingarm spindle to the centre of the wheel spindle. 5 minute job for two people.
  23. What is the dark thing connected to?
  24. Don't get mixed up with breathers and vacuum tubes. A breather allows air at atmospheric pressure into the tank or carbs to allow the fuel to flow out, or an engine breather allowing engine fumes to escape to the airbox usually. A vacuum pipe is usually a connection between the inlet side of the engine/cylinder head and the fuel tap, to allow fuel to flow with the engine running.A vaccum pipe should never be open ended, a breather should.
  25. Clean oil off casing with degreaser and see if it re-appears ???
