  1. Well not a lot of progress this week. Dry weather , so been up the scaffold doing some cladding work. Got two parcels today and a small parcel earlier this week. Two swingarm spacers for the Gixxer 1100 arm fitting to ET frame. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1487_zps84199312.jpg 5.5" Gixxer 1100 rear wheel, complete. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1491_zps60aedd13.jpg Star Racing 4 into 1 system and ET tail unit and light. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1490_zps8b7e73ec.jpg Thankyou very, very much to some very generous guys in the west country and Northumberland.

    LEADED or UNLEADED?

My mate has a 79 R100S running on unleaded plus Castrol Valvemaster additive.

    LEADED or UNLEADED?

Spoke to a BMW mate. He reckons before pre 1985 models would be at risk of damage. Motoworks do exchange heads for £200/pair if you do the removal/replacement. Octane booster would work if you don't do high mileage, but it's worth cleaning heads first and checking em after a few thousand miles. Google it, there's loads of info?

You will probably be ok with premium unleaded and octane booster. You may need to retard ignition a bit. I,ll ask a mate with an old BMW.
  5. Be nice to see you two again Mandy
  6. Think this is where we were gonna meet last year mate.Link not working for me mate I'll have a look on Googlemap. Sounds good. Is it the Travellers Joy here;SS6 9JF
  7. Can you think about the easiest place to meet you once I've crossed the river and what time please Bob?
  8. Possibly worth sticking to original material, slim possibility of galvanic action between copper, ally and steel ? Doubtful but possible. You can buy things called Dowty washers from a bearing supplier for a few pence. They are alloy with a thin black viton seal. Normal washers are made from mild or stainless steel. Sealing washers are slightly crushable, either aluminium or copper usually.
  9. Chainguard?

The suspension is supposed to sag a bit when you sit on the bike.?
  11. Best to check. Usually m8, but several pitches available.
  12. Is it all sorted now? Apart from master cylinder reservoir.
  13. I think Goodridge sell them?
  14. Had a bit of time in the garage today. I donned my thermals and decided with a bit of encouragement to grind the tops off the valve guides and blend them into the head. Mainly used small emery tubes on my Dremel , but had to resort to small grinding wheels at one point to remove enough steel from the valve guides. A bit more work to do , but I was sneezing too much and my snot was freezing on the end of my nose. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1481_zps1a6b1d1c.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1480_zps34636af2.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1479_zps5e5c026a.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1484_zpsf84ac4a4.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1482_zpse9630900.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1477_zpsa8947825.jpg http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/All%20bike%20pix/GSX1100%20project/IMAG1478_zps7e5b7849.jpg Managed to blend most of the ally around the stems , but need a bit more alloy removal before they're finished.
  15. Is the Furygan gonna keep yer boobies warm or does Ollie need to help while riding pillion? WHAT???
  16. Isn't glow fuel Nitro methane and methanol? Best stick to black thick wall tube that won't block up for breathers.?
  17. They will either go hard with the fuel vapour or soft with the heat.
  18. Still working on the cylinder head mate. There's a recess in the alloy behind the valve seats. Having to remove a lot of hard metal to get a good smooth flow from one end of the ports to the valve seats. To be honest the valve sealing faces are a bit wide at 2mm, should really be 1mm or less, but I can't afford the cost of 3 angle valve seat cutting , so they will have to do. Got another 3 days work to do on the head, then I will post pix and start the rebuild.
  19. I keep forgetting to drop those spanners off though ? Did you look at clothing at Aldi?
  20. I popped into HMC this morning and he gave me an M12 nut that might fit. I left it on the front bay window shelf next to your bike. Glad you got a cover to protect and hide the bike. That M/C should fit, but be better to buy one with a lever attached as some are different. You could risk it being the same ? Any small bike M/C should fit as long as it's 22mm or 7/8" and has the correct lever attached.
  21. I must find some jobs for you to do ???
  22. I put posts on here using my phone as well and I always have my phone on me. When it's snowing tomorrow , I'll be working on my cylinder head.
  23. Just had an eMail from Pendine Landspeed Racers Club. My entry has been acceped. I'm in!
