  1. Hope so. I want it loud, but not lose my license loud. Always nice to get people's attention with a blip of the throttle
  2. The stuff I buy expands to fill the space specified when I order it. It get's quieter as it gets hotter, up to a point
  3. Oh yes Bob. That tube is just to make the connection. There will be 18 to 24" of perforated tube, loada packing, an inlet cone with a 3" or 4" outer stainless can with a slashcut outlet.
  4. Do it yerself!!!
  5. I agree with TC. That price sounds like a rip off to me. I would ask for half that price. Get a Haynes and do it yerself. Plenty of help on here and videos on Youtube. Where are you mate ?
  6. No this one mate; http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/My%20Bike%20pix/Untitled.jpg Look at that silencer!!!

    Over reving?

If the throttle cable is adjusted correctly and is not trapped, it's probably the carb. Also check choke cable. Is it a CV carb?
  8. Well I've tolerated this 6kg lump of steel and catalytic converter for long enough. Today I removed it and tried a straight through pipe for a laugh and to check 2 into 1 outlet dimension. Here's the outlet complete with lambda sensor; http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/Exhaust%20stuff/IMAG1328_zps3e6d626c.jpg and, for a laugh, a video of the 48mm pipe without silencing. Double click on piccy. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/Exhaust%20stuff/th_VIDEO0095_zps549f32f3.jpg Need to order 2" perforated tube, silencing material, outer tube and inlet cone, then I can get some more work done.
  9. So the fuel was getting into the float bowl, it just couldn't get out?
  10. Yep , a bit slower on the bike, but moving the cable up and down will eventually produce oil at the lower end.
  11. Cafe racers were fashionable last year. Dunno if it will continue into this year. Streetfighters are more comfortable to ride and you are only restricted by your imagination and bank balance, not fashion.
  12. Sorry mate, graphite is a superb lubricant . but it wouldn't get all the way down the cable! Yes, been using my method with 3in1 for 30odd years. Modern cables are usually PTFE lined , so shouldn't need lubing.
  13. Hang the cable vertically by one of the nipples. Drip 3in1 onto the top of the cable while pushing the outer up and down. Repeat this until oil appears at the lower nipple. If you have plasticine or blue tack, fashion a funnel at the top and keep it topped up with oil.
  14. So how are you gonna get the graphite spray to go all the way down the cable?
  15. Before I had my knee replacement operation, I wore this everytime I went out on my Fireblade. Gives good support and stabilises the knee coz there;s two steel hinges in the sides. Bugger to get off when you have a sweaty leg underneath , but otherwise perfect. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r240/megawattblade/Me/P1050864.jpg
  16. Don't see how it can be float height if the fuel is getting in there! It's not getting out that's the problem Have you checked for a blocked carb breather pipe, if there is one, as well Tiggie?
  17. Going back to Tiggie's first posts; "will start no problem if I spray starter fluid into air intake, then engine dies once fluid has burned up. I have stripped and cleaned carbs more than once I can open float bowl drain and put petcock to prime and watch petrol pour out so I know carb is getting fuel. Battery is fully charged and I'm getting a spark at both cylinders." This sugests that there is compression there and that the engine is only burning the Easy Start and not fuel. The plugs are dry, so fuel is not getting from the carb float bowls in to the engine. I reckon there is a blockage in the pilot jet or main jet circuit. Tiggie, how recently did you put fresh fuel in the tank or go on reserve? Worth draining the float bowl into a clear glass and seeing if there's any crud or water in there! Also try starting it with the fuel filler cap undone as a partial vacuum in there will restrict fuel flow. As said, low compression is unlikely, but needs eliminating from the equation. The only other thing that would prevent starting is timing , either ignition or valve timing, but that is unlikely to go out overnight!!! Good luck and keep us posted
  18. To get max compression for a test, put a few drops of light oil in bores, turn engine over slowly and then test it.

    Main Fuse?

Yeah, but what blew the fuse ???
  20. Keep us posted then. Does sound like fuel not getting out of float bowl.
  21. Did you deffo get sparks? I ask coz Easy start will often pre ignite without a spark?
  22. So fuel is getting into float bowl, but not into engine. This sugests a blocked pilot and/or main jet. Can you remove carb inlet bubber from air filter and try putting your hand over inlet. It should draw vacuum , suck your palm in and possibly unblock the jet. If it draws vacuum while turning over, you should see some fuel being drawn into the venturi, either from the main jet , over the needle or via the pilot jet, a hole in the venturi or throttle area.
  23. Can you check compression?

    Main Fuse?

Best buy at least two fuses then?

    Scottoiler

I lube my chain with MucOff dryPTFE every 200 miles. Got 25,000 outta the last one. I have seen Scottoilered bikes with oil all over the back wheel though!
