  1. The Miners Standard is a good one. Went there before with a different forum Quite a good site. http://www.minersstandard.com
  2. Should be left in Peru. I'm sure the jails there will be a much harder version than ours. Then maybe they won't do it again. Might just put some one off the idea as well if they know that if caught they will serve their time in which ever country they commit the offence
  3. Ok mine for the day has got to be the rider I saw earlier riding around the village I live with a black visor on when the light was poor and getting darker. In case your on here it was me on the bandit that went past you and didn't nod because I was so surprised at your visor!
  4. Amateur radio? You may have spoken to my dad at some point then (G0FDU). May well have Tango will check my log at some point. If you see him before I do my call is G7USC.
  5. Reading and Amateur Radio are my hobbies.
  6. Checked with my local Honda dealer. Missus is looking to do her test and really fancies one of them and the reply was yes it's due then. I asked why would a brand new bike require them to be checked and was told that's what Honda recommended Not really a good answer imv. Needless to say if has put me off it
  7. Apart from the £300 bill on the first service. Need the valve clearances checked.
  8. I like Halfords professional tools particularly the life time guarantee Another good make seems to be Teng. My mid range torque wrench (19 - 120 nM)is by them. Haven't bought any other tools by them but quite like that one. I find that if you shop around and use the internet that you can buy quality tools cheaply. First thing thou get a Haynes as others have said. If you have a good selection of tools already you will be surprised by how many of them you already have
  9. As to tools a good socket set is a must. Torque wrenches a mid range one and one that goes up to about 250nM would be good. Chain breaker/ riveting tool and combination spanners would cover most of it. Oil changes get a canister for catching the oil that looks like a jerry can. Haynes also list other tools that would useful but just buy them as you need them. It really does depend on how much you want to do on your bike. I do most of mine on my bike and the other halfs as I'm too stingy to pay £70 an hour to my local garage. Also look at machine mart for tools. They have some nice ones at a reasonable price. I would say buy a quality tool thou rather than a cheap one as it less likely to fail at some point in the future.
  10. According to the pic they the BT Interphone ones. Same one is on Amazon just do a search on motorbike Bluetooth intercoms
  11. So the impression i was under is wrong? my impression was: complete theory test complete CBT ride 125cc to build up experience, sit MOD 1 and MOD 2 on a 125cc and be restricted to 125cc for two years. after 2 years, ride any size bike. (im 29 years old) and now i can't do this because the rules have changed? That was the way it was before January. Now it's 3 separate test and age limits. At 14 you can do DAS I think.
  12. No you will need to take a further test under the new rules. Was that way before they changed them this year
  13. Look for Rentec racks on eBay I got mine for £42, again cheapo top box (37L) for £26. Total cost was £68.
  14. Bandit is easy to service and mod as well. Things to look out for tend to be the exhaust. Well know for collector box rot. Easy to get a stainless exhaust thou and fit yourself ( I did it on mine)
  15. No carb heaters didn't come till the mark 2.

    tyre pressures

I always tend to email the tire manufacturer for the recommded pressures as usually the manual are printed way before the bikes are produced. Most of the tyre manufactures whose tyres I've put on my bikes in the past are quite good and you get a reply fairly quickly. I've even had one txt me the correct pressures in the past. That was dunlop.
  17. Have a clear and tinted visor. I find the tinted is more use in winter due to the low sun, so wear sunglasses in the summer.
  18. Crikey I remember having an off on the road to Hartley Whitney Was my own stupid fault forgot about the bit where there is a corner that tightens in on itself. Ended jumping the bike up the slight embankment into the field behind it This takes me back to the days of my youth Does Fleet Country Club still do a bikers/metal night? IIRC was a Friday. Does Fleet Country Club still Exist?
