Chances are that the falls have stirred up the crap in the bottom of the tank and some of it has either clogged the strainer, or has got into the carb........strip and flush of the tank and carb I think is in order.....
  2. Welcome to TMBF mate. ....... Normally there's a pipe that comes from the inlet manifold on the cylinder head to the back of the petcock.....If I'm reading your question correctly.....
  3. It's not often that a topic like this bears fruit, but it's easy to cedar why this is so poplar.....
  4. Leaf it out.....I guess yew'v not twigged that Stu is having a larch.....
  5. You'll need a multimeter and wiring diagram......then just follow the live feed until it disappears.......but it sounds like the ignition barrel again......or possibly the starter relay, which I think is placed where rain water just runs into it and kills it.....
  6. Congrats mate.......happy bike shopping, when the time comes......
  7. Rediscovered Deep Purple......... On a side note, was chatting to my eldest sons girlfriend recently and she mentioned that her grandad plays keyboards in a band.....I asked if the band are any good.....Deep Purple she says......Don Airey is her grandad..... But anyway, this is from the Jon Lord era..... https://youtu.be/UAKCR7kQMTQ

Yeah, I've used them before too......really good match to the original paint.......They used to have a stand at the BMF show in Peterborough, which is where I first found them I think....
  9. Welcome to TMBF mate. ....pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the guys when you can. .... What condition is the battery in?......sounds like the battery is dead.....

  11. Are there no other Shark lids that would fit the bill?
  12. OP......sounds like you've found your answer.......bigger bike needed......
  13. Don't forget the Red Rubber grease.....
  14. Did you put some Red Rubber grease on the pistons before pushing them back in?......If not, the piston has probably pulled the seal and wedged it...... When I'm maintaining my brakes on the bike I keep cleaning the pistons and applying a small amount of red rubber grease until I can push the pistons back in by hand.....and that's with the caliper all connected up.....

    Problem's

Hi mate......do you have a bit more information on how the bike dies?..... do all the electrics go off, or the lights go really dim.....or does it cut out without the electrics going off?
  16. Welcome to TMBF mate. ..... Yeah, his license should still be good for bikes ( assuming he passed his bike test when he was still riding)......The only problem you may have is that he'd need to hire himself.....I don't think you could hire it for him as a surprise. .... Good luck.....
  17. My kevlar jeans are not waterproof.....but they're great for bimbling about on sunny days..... I've got Hood ones.....there's pictures on their site of their jeans after people have had offs.....They look to stand up to slides down the tarmac pretty well.....
  18. With some TLC it should be ok then..... BTW. ......Welcome to TMBF mate. ......
  19. Fastbob is right.....If the fuel tap diaphragm was split, then you'd get no fuel to the carb.......maybe the diaphragm the garage was talking about is the CV diaphragm in the carb......no 13 in the diagram.
  20. Post up how you get on with them......particularly if they're waterproof. ....

    Front wheel wobble

Shout up if you need any advice on how to check them.....
  22. If it's been stood for a while try some fresh fuel.....but drain the tank first....

    Front wheel wobble

Check wheel bearings, head bearings and swing arm bearings before taking it to a mechanic........they're easy to check as long as you have a centre stand, or some other method of raising either wheel off the ground.....
  24. Decent bike gloves are the holy grail!.......but recently I've liked Held gloves, but they're not cheap.......having said that though, my previous pair gave 7 years of sterling service before I retired them. ......
