  1. Give the float bowl of each carb a tap with the blunt end of a screwdriver......It may just shake it loose and get you going.......but first, check the oil in the sump in case some petrol has got in there......don't try starting the bike again until you've checked this, otherwise you could destroy your engine.....
  2. Stuck float or crap from the tank stuck in the float valve seat......
  3. Are the throttle cables moving freely?.......also check for air leaks around the inlet stubs......

    Flat?

If you need to replace it, look at Motobatt batteries......they're AGM batteries, so are sealed and don't need topping up.....
  5. Not hardcore, just masochistic loons or just tight I'll buy you a beer this time We just like the evening entertainment and beer-up.......and we both spend a lot of time staying away in hotels, so the novelty has worn thin with that.....
  6. We may go again.....but we'll probably camp because we're hardcore! ......
  7. I've just got a new Motobatt for my bike......There was another brand available for around £20 less than the Motobatt, but the Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) was significantly lower, so I went with the Motobatt again......

    Fork clunk

Can you get it to make the noise by rocking the bike with the front brake on?.......
  9. Happy birthday grasshopper........
  10. Yep.....you're only going to invite trouble if you wear a back patch without being in an MC or MCC........ It's never appealed to me, even though I knew a few guys in one of the largest back patch clubs back in my late teens/early 20's......It is a lifestyle thing and something you'd only embark upon only if you were completely committed to it.....
  11. We often get questions on here about further training after passing the bike test......and the usual advice is Bikesafe, advanced rider training, etc.......but I wasn't aware that there's a scheme on the .Gov site called Enhanced Rider Scheme. .........https://www.gov.uk/enhanced-rider-scheme/how-the-scheme-works So, here's another option to add to the mix......
  12. Here are the requirements for suitable bikes to take the different tests on......https://www.gov.uk/motorcycle-test/motorcycles-mopeds-you-can-use
  13. I think that people are missing the point of the challenge 100.......it's to encourage folks to get out on their bikes and maybe explore areas that they've not been before......If people want to cheat, then the only people they are cheating are themselves...... It's not like there's a huge prize on offer for completing it......although I have heard Curly Wurleys mentioned.......
  14. Welcome to TMBF mate. ..... Personally I'd go DAS straight away......you get more training, and when you get your full license you'll have a much larger choice of bikes......and bigger bikes are better anyway......
  15. Do it then.....and let us know how you get on.....
  16. You'd need to be checking the volts.....Both off and on load......without and with the engine running.....
  17. The wiring around the headstock is a real common problem on Triumph Speed Triples......and it sounds like you've got a dose of that too.......hopefully easily sorted.......Once you get the bike home!......
  18. Have a look around the headstock, mate......sounds like a tight cable pulling when you turn the bars......also have a look where the wiring plugs into the clocks.....
  19. I'm in the "brake before you enter the bend" school.......obviously sometimes a hazard will present itself whilst you're in the middle of the bend and you'll have to take evasive action, possibly by braking, but as a general rule braking is best done whilst the bike is upright. Most advanced riding courses over here will almost certainly say, "slow in......fast out"......
  20. It took me 36 years to find my perfect bike...... Some were good and some were awful......as Throttled says, you'll not really know until you get a few miles under your belt on it......
  21. Has the tank been drained and flushed?.......could be some crap floating about in there. Having to give it throttle on starting suggests to me to be an idle jet problem...
  22. Check these guys out...... http://www.lomo.co.uk/acatalog/drybag-daypack.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAh_DTBRCTARIsABlT9MZJBcTPcDi4hzueBMvDAzrK1hgk6NYGeMNfNcfmwtGeyhbEU1daZtcaAnMPEALw_wcB
  23. Do it, mate......we'll worth the £50...... Also worth looking at is BikerDown, run by the Fire and Rescue service......This is more about what to do if you see a biker down......and it's free.....
  24. Disk lock is probably the best option......but see if you can get one that you can fit to the rear disk, so it's harder for the scrotes to get at with a portable angle grinder......and don't forget the reminder cable.......
