Gonna move this to Pitstop as I think it's more appropriate there......

Maybe Mr Fro is about somewhere......he'll know what to do as he has a similar vintage zx7r...... BTW.....Welcome to TMBF mate........pop over and say hi in the Newbies section when you get chance......
  4. They're only having you on if they insist that it has to be a left handed screwdriver......
  5. Get your ear onto the end of a long screwdriver and go round the engine and gearbox to try to pinpoint where the noise is coming from, Phil...... A loose clutch basket could cause the noise.....but not necessarily mean clutch slip or drag......
  6. Yeah....The compression should be able to blow your finger off the plug hole. Check valve clearances, valve seats, head gasket, piston rings, etc........no compression will definitely be why the bike don't run......
  7. Yeah.....I was wondering if the noise went away when the clutch is pulled in, it may point to a gearbox issue.......otherwise it'll be something on the primary side. Maybe starter gear or sprag not disengaging correctly.......
  8. Did any debris come out in the old oil when you changed it? Is the noise still there if you pull the clutch in? Just fishing for clues at the moment......
  9. Where to start?........The lad on the yzf125r who undertook me and the car in front on the slip road joining the A1 near Barford this morning, single lane slip road.....and we were adjusting our speed to join the main road, and busy watching for a gap to slip into.......didn't need the added complication of having to watch out for this prat too!! Then there was the women in the 2 cars in front f*king about on their phones on the approach to Sterling corner in heavy traffic......and the nob in the car behind with his phone pressed to his ear.........I've come to the conclusion that there's a lot of very rich people about, as the threat of a £1000 fine doesn't deter them...... And then Mr knob end in his BMW X1 that was itching to get past myself and the learner in front on an urban road near Colindale.........It was not as if the learner was below the 30mph limit on the road.........anyway, he eventually blasted past us on the approach to a junction to join the A41 in the righthand lane to then swing a left turn across the front of the learner........class! And I caught up with him at the next set of lights anyway........
  10. I've got one on my bike........you'd have to look pretty hard to see it though...... Yeah, I've got to agree that having it on the bike doesn't make me safer or feel safer.........that's what further rider/driver training is for........
  11. At your age you can go for the A2 license, which will allow you to ride most bikes up to 35KW........so it's not solely dependant on the size of the engine. The only caveat is that if a bike is restricted to 35KW, it's unrestricted power cannot exceed double the 35KW.
  12. Bad luck mate....... you'll nail it next time.......
  13. Dunno what carbs you have on the bike........but if they're CV and a diaphragm or 2 are split it can cause the slides to drop too quickly, which will starve the engine of fuel before the pilot jets can take over.......just a thought......
  14. Hard to see from the vids.......but do the lights and other electrical stuff go off when it cuts out? I would have thought that fuel starvation would cause the bike to stutter first, before cutting out? However, as it's a carbed bike, what are the carb diaphragms like? Any splits or holes in them could cause problems like this.
  15. Good luck mate........hope the weather is OK for the test......
  16. I got a secondhand Rukka jacket off eBay for £100........In good nick, fits well......and is 100% waterproof........so, there are bargains to be had, if you're patient and persistent......
  17. If the box is narrower than your bars, then it shouldn't be a problem.....
  18. Waterproof over gloves? ....... http://www.getgeared.co.uk/revit-spokan ... s-wp-black
  19. Sounds like the battery is stuffed.......or the charging circuit has failed and is not charging the battery.......time to get the voltmeter out.....
  20. Sounds like a pilot jet issue........
  21. How did you get on around the A14.......did you beat the queues? Hopefully the funeral went OK too, mate.
  22. Check the condition of the carb to head inlet rubbers......any cracks or leaks on them will cause this to happen......
  23. The A14 between Huntingdon (jct 23) and Cambridge (jct 30) is normally pretty slow from around 7am to 9am, and jct 31 to jct 33 can be a bit sticky too...Unfortunately all the alternative routes around Cambridge aren't much better. Once past there you should be OK until Bury St Edmunds itself. I'd allow 45 mins for the Huntingdon to Cambridge stretch of the A14 if you're likely to be hitting it between 7 and 9. Actually, thinking about it, the stretch from the A1 to where the A14 merges at Spittals can get pretty slow also southbound.......I'd allow an hour for the stretch from the A1 to Cambridge at that time of the morning to be safe.
  24. Looks like you've got a bite there........ .......reel him in.......
