Just been reading a bit about him on FB.......seems he had a bit part in the film "Easy Rider" but also looked after the bikes used in the film. He acquired Peter Fonda's crashed bike after filming and rebuilt it.......and apparently then donated it to a museum........but then another bike surfaced that he claimed was the real one from the film......and then another.......but only he knew which one was the original.........and no he's taken that info to the grave with him......

I tend to use the blue loctite for these as it's non hardening......so you can get the b*ggers off next time.....

Yeah.....These new fangled bikes with all their fancy electronics need a decent amount of power in the battery to run the ECU.......no power, no starty ......

Many thanks for everyone's support and offers of help, it's very much appreciated ...... I think the initial shock has passed now.....thankfully . Interestingly I saw this today and after the chaos of the emergency services trying to get to the victims the other day it makes perfect sense. Apparently in Germany it's law to move your vehicle to the extreme sides of the lane you are in to allow the emergency services to pass easily.....

Yeah.....The whole BikerDown thing is about helping others, Joe......sadly there are a lot of people around these days that would step over you if you fell over in the street........sad times really.....

Agree entirely Bob, is it a sign of our times or is it the thought of getting pulled into all the paper work possible legal battle afterwards???? I'll bet some of the forces are now thinking twice before they act. It's a crazy world we now live in. Unfortunately it does seem to be a sign of the times Chris.......I'm alright Jack mentality!

The trouble as well Stu, is that people don't want to get involved either. I saw a pic of the burning car on the M11 and people were driving round it.....It didn't look like anyone stopped to help...... The accident yesterday.....me and another couple of people went to try to help.....but everyone else were standing around spectating or just sitting in their cars.......

I spoke with one of the collision investigation officers today, as they want a statement......and he said that I'm likely to be contacted by a counsellor and his advice was to see them. I surrendered my dash cam to them too, to see if the footage will help the investigation. Unfortunately what is seen cannot be un-seen.....

Those that are on my FB know that yesterday afternoon I witnessed a very serious RTA. An artic ploughed into several stationary cars and another truck just in front of me. I went to help and the police were soon on the scene. I helped one of the first officers there pull the driver from the remains of one of the cars as he was in a bad way. Unfortunately the passenger in the car was clearly beyond help. Sadly I found out today that the driver also died later on in hospital ...... Anyway, today when heading up the M11 near Cambridge there was a lane closed northbound and a burnt out car on the southbound side. I found out that the car had caught fire and the driver was still inside...... 3 fatalities in 2 days......I hope this isn't a pattern for the rest of the year!! Stay safe out there people......whatever mode of transport you're using.

That's gutting......feel for you, mate..... There's a few Facebook groups that you could post it on......One is Motorcycle Stolen, but I think there's others too......maybe put it on the cb1000 motorcycle groups page/website in case anyone is offered parts.

I was never really a big fan of Bowie......but, having said that, Heroes is amongst my favourite songs of all time......and I do possess Hunky Dory and Alladin Sane, which are always on my phone and mp3 player...... He was an innovative song Smith that's for sure......RIP

Sounds like the exhaust may have been loose around the cylinder head.....hence the popping etc.......so if they've tightened that up it could have had an effect on the running........70 mph is quick for a YBR......

I've got to say that this place pretty much moderates itself......which is a good thing......We just have to weed out the occasional nob, or fire the odd warning shot......but, on the whole it ticks along quite nicely...... We also have to stop the spam getting through and cluttering the place up, which unfortunately sometimes means a bit of a delay in authorising some people's first posts as we've all got full time jobs ......but hopefully any Newbies appreciate that and it's not too much of an inconvenience to them...... Anyway......carry on, troops......

I think the point of the £600-700 tests is not the cost of the test.....but the training and use of a bike in order to take the test. Even if you bought your own bike you'd have problems insuring it before getting your license....and you'd also need to get it to the test centre ( and possibly from, if you fail). In theory you are right.....but I think in practice there are good reasons to pay the fees for the training and use of a school bike.....
