  1. Nice one mate......and quality time with your daughter too......win, win.....
  2. Try and get along to Motorcycle Live at the NEC .....end of Nov, beginning of Dec......The place to see bikes and sit on them.... http://www.motorcyclelive.co.uk/
  3. 125cc is the max you can ride on L-plates......so you'd need to do the full test to ride anything bigger, irrespective of whether you have a full car licence or not. The CBT needs to be renewed every 2 years unless you pass your bike test. The full bike licence depends on age......There are 3 tiers.....17-19 yrs is the A1 licence , which would allow you to ride up to a 125cc without L-plates.....19-24 yrs is the A2 license, which allows you to ride a bike up 47KW output........24 yrs and over (21 if you pass your A2 test at 19) is the full A licence, which allows you to ride any bike. There are some other caveats, but that's the gist of it.....
  4. Happy birthday Fozzie......I hope you got new earplugs for your birthday? ....

  8. One of my old bosses said that he got pulled up for speeding on his old BSA years back......the copper walked round my bosses bike, shaking his head and sucking his breath through his teeth......then said "there's no way this heap was going that fast!".......and then just walked back to his car and drove off......still shaking his head...... Anyway.....I'm still waiting for the new video from Baron von Munchausen......
  9. Bad luck mate.......better luck on 1st Sept....... I very rarely do a U-turn without trailing my feet.......why it's in the test I don't know........

  13. I couldn't possibly comment....... I cant either!!! even at 140 I dont feel the buffeting But you ride a 2-wheeled bus, Stu.........real men (with thick necks) ride naked bikes......
  14. The traffic cop who did our BikeSafe theory bit told us about the day him and a colleague had been on duty down at Duxford, sorting the traffic for the airshow. After a long and exhausting day they were heading back to headquaters on their bikes and ran into some heavy traffic on the A14, so they started filtering. A twat in a mercedes saw the bikes coming up the middle of the traffic and decided to move over and block them. The cops mate, who was in front, wasn't in the mood to f*ck about.......so he switched the blues on. The cop said you've never seen a car get out of the way so quickly, and as they rode past his mate shouted "COCK" at the very sheepish merc driver........
  15. Nice one mate....... You'll get used to the wind buffeting........it's all part of the experience......
  16. I like it mate.......may have to steal that!!
  17. A couple of weeks ago Bonnniebird and I were at the regular Tuesday evening bike meet, just watching the bikes roll in, whilst munching on our burgers, when a group of bikes rolled in accompanied by a woman riding a Can Am Spyder (sporty 3 wheeled jobbie). When the woman took her lid off I said to Bonniebird that I thought I recognised her, but I couldn't think from where. After about 30 mins the penny dropped. She used to go out with an old mate of mine when I lived in Kent. At the time he had a Honda CBX-6 and I had my XS1100. Due to a bike accident she'd lost a bit of mobility in one leg, so she struggled with the position of the Pillion pegs on the CBX, so she often used to ride pillion on my XS1100 because the pegs were more comfy for her. Anyway, her and my mate split up and I didn't see her again.......until a couple of weeks ago.....75 miles from where we used to live......and 30+ years later!! So, we ended up in the same pub on the same night, 30 odd years later and a long way from where we used to live! Bonniebird and myself went over to her and her husbands place today......and tried to catch up with 30+ years........and admire the nice collection of bikes they've got..... Small world!!
  18. Congrats Moo......knew you'd do it........and bikers make better car drivers......
  19. Thank you all for your kind birthday wishes...... Hard to believe that 40 years ago on this day I took to the roads on my first 'proper' bike.......Honda CD175 - JMU476P.......and bikes and their riders still make up a big part of my life... Once bitten by the bug you'll never recover from it........the itch that needs to be scratched......
  20. This has kinda drifted from the original question........so, let's try to get it back on track please. By all means continue this discussion........but start a dedicated thread, eh........
  21. Congrats mate........good luck with the DAS......
  22. Glad you got one of the probs sorted Ollie........my money was on a loose battery terminal........ The other problem does sound like front wheel bearings........
  23. Tango

    Front brake cable

Yeah.....the rear brake light comes on when you apply the front or rear brakes.......so it sounds like your front brake switch has dismantled itself........new ones are generally cheap and easy to fit......
  24. Read a book about a guy who rode around the world in a pair of TCX Infinity boots and then still used them for commuting when he got back........ My Sidi Black Rain Evo's are still going Ok at 4 years plus........although they're not so waterproof now......
