  1. you want to see how things are in Denmark on the lead up to new year. its like a warzone! Everyone letting fireworks off in the street from mid-afternoon onwards for about a week. Rockets are really cheap, available in most shops. Zero health and safety and nobody moaning about the noise or worrying about being a "safe distance". last year we were letting rockets off from a tiny balcony - so about 1m max away from giant rockets launching whilst in the street below people had those firework cubes that fire loads of exploding stars into the air in the middle of the road with cars (including the police) driving past without a care in the world. Take a look at some footage i shot... https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipNIJyNdS2FB_J0oqDfSnLMGp_C9ZjtamCnhmBB0m8VwAH_T62eiPOGReBPBGQviYQ/photo/AF1QipOtQlXQgW-kKhX3VcepLl60S6zU35ghM-k6gGyP?key=TkVZUVJQWXJGemNxUk5BLTZ2azl5WVBtemRZRUFn https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipPSec_DryClwerJ0K_93_lpi9vfBqbRMEKvWCdGaQa_BZk_2jPxuQyFnyITxGXZ6w/photo/AF1QipMU9kViZNAZiFV-hbUlxCqFxlkag1dGWtG4Nrr8?key=dnJxZGZJNTVTUWgtRkJiS1JRb0pLbTBzcHRhZzZ3
  2. The sooner people ditch their stupid opinions on nuclear energy and accept that it has the potential to provide vast amounts of cheap, carbon neutral energy the better. Forget fancy windmills and planet heating solar farms, just build a few small scale nuclear power stations. Electricity requirements are only going to increase and nuclear energy is the only realistic way we have to meet the demands.. https://www.nei.org/news/2019/bill-gates-on-nuclear
  3. If you negotiate, some insurers will match your existing NCD used on an existing vehicle on a new policy to get your business. I've done this with cars and bikes in the past. I now have multibike and multicar policies.
  4. How can you smell the clutch?? I'd you don't use the clutch for downshifts it won't stall, but that doesn't cure the underlying problem of why your idle speed it too low. If it does stall with the clutch pulled just release the clutch gently and it will restart,no need to the starter button.
  5. Thanks guys and gals!! Haha yes I'm on a train but totally sober for once.. won't be for long after I get off the train
  6. eBay buyer protection is pretty good to be fair. If the seller doesn't resolve the issue start a case against them. Last thing they want is bad feedback. Meanwhile maybe but another from another seller.
  7. Were they on Harleys wearing hi-viz "Road Captain" jackets? They are the only ones Ive seen who will block a roundabout and it's a diabolical practice IMO that's asking for trouble when they block the wrong car driver.
  8. You get additional consumer rights when buying online compared to in store.. When people catch on to this retailers will start insisting you come and pay in store!
  9. Only 50quid per month on PCP...
  10. Majority of climate change is due to solar activity. Not much we can do about that!
  11. Keep the planes on the ground with engines running.. climate change morons hate it when cars sit in traffic with their engines running, so they will go totally bat-sh1t-crazy if a bunch of planes sit on the runway with their engines running!!
  12. I sent them an email last night, got a reply this morning saying to go down and meet them, only a small group 35 members, this one is also £12 to join, but you do get affiliated with BMF and MAG which could be a bonus as some insurance companies offer extra discount for being a club member Bikesure give a discount for being a member of this forum.
  13. how long have they had your helmet for? if its too long you are entitled to a replacement. again, read this. https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act
  14. A squirrel didn't think they would be much of a hump to ride over its the swerve on the wet uneven road that does it... watch till the end to see the slow-motion replay (the squirrel was fine) ">
  15. Nearly got knocked off my GSXR by a squirrel!! Edit, just realised this is an ancient thread and I'd already posted the video!! https://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=776757#p776757

    Bike storage

Why is every so obsessed with draining the petrol out!? And leaving the tank open exposes the inside to damp air allowing surface rust to form. Keep some petrol in there and periodically slosh it about to coat the inside of the tank with petrol and help prevent surface rust.
  17. Haha but but but, that's not the way things are done anymore.. can't be expected to work stuff out!

    Bike storage

Why do people always say drain the fuel? Storing a bike with an empty tank is a great way to encourage the inside of your tank to rust. And starting a bike up weekly just generates condensation inside the engine/gearbox. Full tank, turn off the petrol tap if you have one, plug it into a trickle charger, stick a cover over it to prevent it getting dusty and leave it! Rotate the wheels occasionally if you don't want tyres flat spotting but even that's optional.
  19. Useful for weekends and holidays.. get one.
  20. Less than 6months old or more? Makes a big difference.. And how long is it taking to repair the helmet? Read this. https://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-rights-act
  21. Setup android Family Link. I use it to restrict screen time etc on my daughter's Chromebook. You can use it for any android/chrome device.

Take a spare spark plug out with you. When it cuts out again, pull the plug cap off, insert the spare plug, hold it against the engine and check for a spark. Try not to shock yourself!
  23. Wind the preload up and see if you still bottom it out easily. If you do then you need stiffer springs. You want the suspension working in its optimal range which is why the sag setting is important. You've already said you're a big lad about twice the weight of the rider the bike was designed for so if you want optimal suspension it's unlikely the standard springs will be stiff enough.
  24. Ktech will be able to stick some stiffer springs on it. That will and a huge difference.
