  1. Yes, but consistently we get people just on this forum who don't know of its existence, and who struggle to go around bends. There must be millions of riders out there who are taking bends, but who dont actually know how - they are relying on their instincts/subconscious. But then when they find themselves deep in a corner and running wide, it's their conscious mind that's in control, they panic and do the wrong thing because their conscious mind doesn't know how to use counter steering to tighten up the line, and they end up in the ditch. Good teaching should not assume any prior knowledge. They should teach vehicle control from the ground up, and that includes how to steer a bike.
  2. I really dont understand why its not taught in CBT?
  3. I failed a breathalyzer test once. But i was three stories up in a house, during a house party that the police attended. In my 'party mood', i jokingly asked one of the officers if i could have a go with his breathalyzer. He obliged and i failed the test spectacularly, so i celebrated with another beer, and tried to use the little white disposable plastic blowtube as a straw...
  4. Actually, it shouldn't be called counter steering. It should just be called steering...
  5. Bikes are actually very stable when moving. The gyroscopic effect from the wheels (and engine) means that a bike's natural state is upright and in a straight line, so If you let go of the bars, this is what it will do. This is why you sometimes see racing bikes riding off by themselves when the rider has fallen off - basically bikes don't need a rider to go in a straight line. If you want the bike to turn, you need to upset the equilibrium by applying force to one of the handlebars. When you remove the external force, the bike will attempt to return to a state of equilibrium (upright and straight line). The equilibrium state resists change, so to break the equilibrium and get the bike to establish a turn, requires more force than to maintain the turn.
  6. Just try it in a straight line over about 20mph. Wiggle the bars and see which way it turns.
  7. Theres a meet in mayflower park on Thursday nights. It's worth finding out about that.
  8. it was a sign.... now you got a cage licence, its time to get a bike licence! well done - freedom is a great feeling
  9. So cheap, just but two and use the second one for spares.
  10. I used to get pulled over all the time when I was younger. I found the police always to be very reasonable. But I've not been pulled over for many years. I miss my little roadside chats with the boys in blue.
  11. If you dont burn your mouth on pizza, you werent really hungry enough to eat it.
  12. I dont think they would be very comfortable, and they would likely be too hot to sit in the office all day. also, the traffic fumes might make them a bit stinky.
  13. Good to know.. i need to renew my passport. didnt dare send it off before i went away incase it didnt come back in time!

  16. Lose battery connection or lose earth that need tightening up. It's connecting just enough for the low current dash lights but not enough for the high current starter motor.
  17. 100% of everything you read on the internet is true. You cant argue with the internet - it knows everything.
  18. need to learn to put your foot over your licence plate as you ride past
  19. What did the "A" "K" & "P" stand for? http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+does+category ... ng+licence
  20. So you're the nob causing all the traffic jams then. Actually trying to cause an accident so i can prove that the "safety cameras" vans are actually just "motorist mugging" devices. If we all had a crash at the site of a camera vans, we could mess up the safety figures so badly that they would have no choice but to stop using them for health and safety reasons...
  21. My understanding was that they had to take an average speed reading over a set minimum distance, so when ever ive see them, I jam on the brakes and slow right down to well below the limit, so as to reduce my average speed to something closer to the limit. So far its worked for me..
  22. what if they match her mother's too??
  23. The bloke who was supposed to be supplying windows and doors. He's had since may to supply them, continued to give install dates that he kept missing with various excuses about them needing to go back to the manufacturer. He's refused to return calls or messages left with his receptionist. Today we got an email asking if we'd like them fitted Monday as it would be good to get them out of his warehouse!! So how long has he been sitting on them?? Well its too late - I ordered from someone else last week. I Expect this to get messy as its a few grands worth of aluminium bifolds and alu windows he's now stuck with. Nob
  24. but anyway, back on topic, i would cut out the leaking part of the tank and make sure the hole was big enough to get my arm in to spread resin over the rest of the inside of the tank. I'd then rebuild the missing part with fiberglass filler, sand it all off, prime and paint. maybe even swirl some paint about inside the tank (not sure about that) if you take your time, you'd never know the difference, and it would last another 30+years
