  1. just like electric cars and bikes not standardised....still a mess.
  2. yep they are terrible, been with them along time ago with british gas and eon that were all horrendous. we're with octopus , soooooooooooooooooooooo much better, never needed to change supplier since.
  3. problem is if your old meter is broken or out of date...what's the replacement? a smart meter...
  4. can't help (or run after) the bell when they do 30+in a 20 with very little regard for other users...when it's that loud it over takes all other traffic sounds and distinctive.... you can't ignore that from inside a car, you know something is very wrong....
  5. No you do not need those other certs. your license (higher grade than a basic cbt) is the proof that you passed to ride on the road what grade you are on now. just the need to go with a riding school to learn to ride a bigger big but more important to retrain on how to pass because not doubt you would have picked up a few habits / forgotten stuff...
  6. i nominate the muppet in a poverty spec black 1 series bmw that i see (well mostly hear) most afternoons on way back home afterwork over the last few weeks with either a very flat tyre or one with about 5psi...the very distinctive rumbling wet fart sound of a flat tyre that they still haven't sorted out... dangerous and stupid.
  7. i don't want to move metal drums around when im paid to, let alone in my own time with something i paid for with my own money... paying for metal you don't need is not bright either.
  8. well if you've changed it to a aftermarket you might aswell do a aftermarket switch gear too with the options of what you want.
  9. Dave is correct. your age, place, type and age of bike etc play a big part. try a different type of bike over a sports bike and you might be surprised.
  10. but at the same time you cannot go above and beyond law yourself.
  11. simple- a very fine brush / toothbrush, tweezers and a hand spray bottle.
  12. Westy is correct. i think you REALLY need to think it through what you actually want in priority!!! cos literally every thing conflicts itself.. if you want lighter weight then do you really need the same capacity as more or the same power...no... are you just guessing/comparing to a bike of a lazy air cooled inline 4? a good fit twin in a slightly smaller capacity (water cooled too?) will be just as powerful on the roads as it will be accessible more of the time without having to wind it up to 12000 rpm. speed twin 900 for example, just a few ps lower and Nm but 40+kg lighter 10k service intervals. you could go to a smaller triple for example and get greater benefits in performance if your really about thinking of the prevardo of i need the biggest thing just because......

  14. at least they finally got rid of that daft high level manifold/link/exhaust for this model. surprised they didnt just stick to a more common tyre size for the speed especially the front- really limits the options.
  15. Hi welcome. nice to start off small and with a actual brand but from my knowledge not the most popular in the UK so starting here will be harder work. ebay and the web from sellers in more warmer and smaller capacity markets will be the place to look. Hairsy is correct, with the way it progresses it easier for people to see what's up if you hit that wall. then their will always be ones with peer view judgy eyes to say that you were badly wrong, they would have done it that way themselves cos they know all....blah blah blah...then we laugh about it as it's all BS. Of course there will always be a to help out.
  16. if that's the case then i'd go looking for the web for the smallest and medium db reduction foamy. i found Howard Leight by Honeywell Laser-Lite Single-Use Earplug Refill Pack, SNR 35, 200 pairs (pink and yellow mix colours) ones the smallest and softest for me, very good db reducing (which is what i was after) but they do loads of others with different characteristics that should be to your suiting.
  17. well done. depends... if your having to sit on it for years at a time, budget / money to pay, service it, insurance (have u checked?) etc then why not? pcp or out right? if im being sensible - your iffy or clumsy then personally i'd go for one that is a couple of years old at lowish miles...then if you drop it, it's not soul destroying and budget for repairs is there and better riding gear...have you budget for that yet? the yamaha is a good trusted brand. whats your height and weight? just make sure that bike is the correct size for you! otherwise it's going to be a hurtful, hateful and expensive experience. Ask interference fit what's that like!!
  18. that's the question, why are your ears aching? is it from fit or from material? if its material of silicone there is no guarantee that the custom ones will be much or any different to what you currently use now? as most if not all are silicone based. if another potential personal problem is if your ears change size or characteristics, in the heat do the canals expand, become smaller and sweat more but in the cold of winter get larger and dry? so fit and comfort will change. if your a summer use only best get them fitted at that time of year ull use most often. other hygiene reasons can be added. these will have impacts on the product you may have to think over. they don't block out quite as much (anything from 10-20ish db for the best ones) as foams, can harmonise/vibrate depending on characteristics of the slicone/bike/wind/helmet doesnt dampen out which you may or not notice.
  19. well for my bike the ignition switch is the safest, with a direct route and a big fuse. going any other route (kill switch and side stand) has to go through at least one relay, and extra fuse and the ignition anyway. the manual still says use the ignition and the other two routes are for safety / emergency reasons. so what does this say? not one sole way is correct for everyone, stop it the way it was designed and the manual asks not just the way your use to or fancy.
