Hi all not sure if this the right place for this question, but I'm having problems setting up my 12v adaptor to my battery so I can use my sat nav. I know it sounds stupid but not really sure how to connect it, are the battery screws supposed to go through the holes of the adaptor? Any help would be great as it's starting to get me angry :crybaby:

Need some pics so's I can see what you are getting at......

+1

With mine, the ends of the wires are simply screwed to the battery, and the connections are already there. Not sure what you want to drill through?

If I knew how to imbed a link to the thread which details the method of (safely) connecting an adapter, I would! :?

I fitted mine through a relay which only energises when the bike is powered up (tail light feed). I used two fuses - 1 low amp for the relay feed and 1 higher for the adapter feed (lets you run inflation pumps but will 'blow' if the socket is shorted).

put a fuse between the battery and terminal 30

if you get a 5 terminal relay dont use 87A

the trigger is from a switched live ie only live with the ignition on lights etc

Hi are you sure you want a switched supply to your socket? The reason l ask is that every time you switch off your engine you sat nav will power down. l found this a right pain should you stop for a moment for fuel or the likes. I use mine for all sorts of things just make sure you fit an in line fuse halfords or any car accessory place should be able to get set up correctly

I fitted an intelligent charger for my phone.......it wires direct to the battery but doesn't turn on unless the phone is connected.......doesn't seem to drain the battery, but the bike is on the optimate when it's not being used. ....... 8-)
