bluenose Posted October 4, 2012 Share Posted October 4, 2012 Hi all not sure if this the right place for this question, but I'm having problems setting up my 12v adaptor to my battery so I can use my sat nav. I know it sounds stupid but not really sure how to connect it, are the battery screws supposed to go through the holes of the adaptor? I made mine with a fuse halfway and crimped standard ring connectors on the end, so I just screwed them directly onto the battery terminals. I fitted mine through a relay which only energises when the bike is powered up (tail light feed). I used two fuses - 1 low amp for the relay feed and 1 higher for the adapter feed (lets you run inflation pumps but will 'blow' if the socket is shorted). The reason l ask is that every time you switch off your engine you sat nav will power down. l found this a right pain should you stop for a moment for fuel or the likes. Tango Posted December 29, 2013 Share Posted December 29, 2013 I fitted an intelligent charger for my phone.......it wires direct to the battery but doesn't turn on unless the phone is connected.......doesn't seem to drain the battery, but the bike is on the optimate when it's not being used. .......
