zemon
We all love lube Was wondering if anyone can tell me if this stuff is suitable?(My chain is a o-ring chain)http://www.carchem.co.uk/release-super- ... cevsr1mj93ThanksDave
Smokin Joe
That's not really a lubricant, more a sort of souped up WD40.I wouldn't use it, go for a proper chain lube. They're not expensive.
megawatt
Some of these WD40 type lubes can attack the O rings. Stick to a proper non fling chain lube. I use MucOff dry PTFE every 200 miles. Had 25,000 miles outta my last chain.
zemon
Surely if that one is ptfe then its fine?I emailed them and they told me its what most of their customers buy it for....
Stu
Its a blend of solvents which solvents evaporate! I wouldn't use it

Smokin Joe
Ill stick to my usual, its only cos that was dirty cheap lol. Also heard people using filtered old engine oil?It does the job, but it will fly off and cover the back wheel in oil. Specific chain lubes are made to cling to the chain. They are so cheap it really isn't worth sodding about with anything else.

Joeman
Lol cheapest I can find is £8.And I'm a commuter so going through it fairly quick lol. I could sell you some really cheap chain lube if you like, but it will be mostly water and fly off as soon as you pull away... Cheap Chain lube is false economy if youre doing any sort of milage. For the milage you're doing, a scottoiler would be more appropriate!
zemon
I've briefly heard of them before and thought about looking into it, but never got round to it. Where is best to get one?And are they bike specific?
Stu
I just use old engine oil and no problems here in 9 years Do it after a ride let it soak in a bit wipe off excess with a rag

RantMachine
If you're after a cheap fix, could give a DIY Scottoiler a go http://www.xrv.org.uk/forums/attachments/bodgers-corner/2858d1226672980-diy-scottoiler-bottle.jpg
