My only problem was that i wanted it to start recording as soon as the bike switched on, which required me to take it apart an monkey about with the electronics. This is the comparison photo showing the SportsDV alongside the Mobius. The Mobius is not waterproof - it needs a case to make it waterproof, so for all weather helmet cam action, the SportDV might be the way to go - although im not totally convinced the SportDV is watertight as it looks like it will leak around the buttons and lights. As for water tight I think I may be able to get around that although I would only be using it on rides out so chances of it seeing rain hopefully are slim, I doubt anyone would want to see my trip to work. The mobius looks tidy too. I should be getting one soon, I just can't justify a gopro for my use and doubt I'll start vlogging Quote
Joeman Posted September 17, 2014 Author Posted September 17, 2014 the DV makes for a good helmet camera IMO.The Vibrate feature is good as it makes your helmet vibrate so you know if its turned on or not (yes i know that sounds rude lol)It also vibrates when it switches off so you know when the battery has died.pretty sure it would be splash proof, just dont submerge it! mintex Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Its come and its fixed on ready for a test run Quote
fq-craigus Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Think I'll be grabbing one soon then. Although it's first job is to catch proof of the flame thrower of my car so it will be strapped to the boot, I'll upload whether it's fire retardant too lol Quote
mintex Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Well I think that's the best the best result I've had. Not perfect, but good enough for me.I love being on my in the sunshine! "> One thing I have noticed is that this was taken in 720 and the quality seems to have taken a hit when uploaded to YouTube. 1080 next time! What did you do to yours please mate, i'm trying to reduce the wind noise on mine . Quote
fullscreenaging Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I took it apart and put a bit of electrical tape over the hole for the mic on the inside. I then put it back together then pushed a tiny bit of cotton wool into the mic hole and finally put electrical tape over the hole.Hope that helps. Quote
Glorian Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Still not managed to get mine to record in 45mins isntead of 3 min clips .. >.> ALso anyone know if you can buy replacement adhesive patches for the helmet holder. Quote
mintex Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Try the firmware update, i did it to mine and it worked ok Ive also modified it to take an external mic http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/camera/P1010052_zps4025ac70.jpghttp://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p161/suzuki998/camera/P1010053_zps4836ba88.jpg Quote
John933 Posted November 1, 2014 Posted November 1, 2014 I have quite a few different type of cameras for the bike. Look at this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jy6JaUG ... xAon-UCU1AThe quality is better on my computer from the raw stock, You Tube compresses it down's. But it will give you an idea. I use movie maker to add the sound track. One of the problems I'm alway's coming across is where to mount it. So I've made up a few short videos to show you how I've done it. Hope it help's.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kim3rEr ... xAon-UCU1Ahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JczX2tw ... xAon-UCU1Ahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBN7yTD ... xAon-UCU1Ahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIj8iQs ... Glorian Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Yeah tried firmware. DOwnloaded placed into the camera folder and did the whole resetting malarky. Still records at 3min intervals Quote
Ricky Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Anyone want to sell me their mounts or know where I can buy some more? Quote
Guest Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hi I came across your forum whilst looking for tips on increasing the video time of my camera which I use this camera for my paragliding and it only runs on internal battery for about 20-40 minutes on full charge and unlike you bikers Icant simply pull to the side of the road and change batteries (people get upset if you drop a screwdriver on them from 3000ft!). I cant see how to make it record on a loop yet and it only takes 3 minute videos which I join together using freemake software so if you find a way please let me know.also it wont run whilst connected to the usb connector in a laptop, it will only allow reading of the memory , the charger cable uses the metal outer of the usb connector as part of the charging circuit so some usb mains adapters ( like the ipad type) wont work - you have to use the supplied charger adapter unless you are prepared to take apart the usb charger plug and connect the 0v to shield. I like the idea of drilling a small hole to connect up an external battery ( I connected some external batteries in case in may flying suit top pocket using the 8pin to usb lead, but the internal battery still gave up after about an hour of filming also I get lots of wind noise with the unit so the microphone is also going to be moved out .I like the streamlike look of the camera as opposed to the hero which my son uses on his motorbike - he fell off last year on some diesel (bikers nightmare) and the hero disassembled itself and didnt record anything! Quote
Stu Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hi and welcome to the forum there is a link in this thread for the firmware to make it record for 45-50 mins continuous then it will start recording again at another 45-50 mins if you use a large enough SD card you can get a few hours filming as for the battery you can charge it and use it at the same time via the wall socket so I assume a external charger will work just as well Quote
Tango Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I wonder if you could rig one of those emergency phone chargers up to the camera? Some of them have pretty hefty capacity..... Quote
Ricky Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I'm still looking for mounts, spoke to someone on ebay and they was back and fourth with messages and then all of a sudden, nothing Quote
Joeman Posted February 8, 2015 Author Posted February 8, 2015 I might have some spare. I bought two cameras and butchered one so probably have some spare mounts somewhere.. Which mount do you need? Quote
