mattycoops43 Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Excellent! I haven't used mine yet, too broke. I want to get some more Halfords pro tools, I think they have the highest discount, some are up to 60% off.Do you know what the discount is in store before going to the till, or is it only at the checkout? Joeman Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Do you know what the discount is in store before going to the till, or is it only at the checkout?Well I was at the parts desk at the back of the shop. He took my reg number to find the parts, priced it all up, then I asked what diacount I got for trade card. He had to start the process again. So seems its best to tell them first that you have the card.I also wanted an air-con recharge kit. They have an offer on at the moment, 3 for 2 on air-con products. But the offer doesn't apply to trade card users. So me and the halfords guy priced up what the three items would cost with trade discount compared to the normal 3 for 2 offer. On this occasion the three for two was cheaper. So I bought the pads with the trade card for the 25% discount and bought the three air-con products on the 3for2 offer with 10quid back when I return the used gas cylinder...All in all, very enjoyable experience. They guy knew his stuff and was keen to give me the best price so was happy to let me know prices and get his calculator out to get the beat deal. Quote
fullscreenaging Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I went into Halfords yesterday (spur of the moment) as I was going past on the bike. Bought a set of screw extractors. I told the young lad that I didn't have my trade card on me for the reason above and he took me over to the till had word with his colleague and I got 20% trade card discount. All credit to The two guys at Halfords. Result! Quote
Joeman Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 I just re-gassed my air-con and the instructions said "go for a drive" so I went a filled the tank with diesel and then ended up back at halfords, got chatting with the same bloke I spoke to before about discounts and ended up walking out with the 200piece professional socket set (with ratchet spanners)Retail: £150 (reduced from 300)Trade: £124.99I said I was gonna give the card a spanking this weekend! Lol. Quote

Joeman Posted May 5, 2014 Author Posted May 5, 2014 Had a thought, are we breaking any terms or conditions of the card by broadcasting the discount prices??Halfords might not be happy if everyone found out... Quote
Mr Fro Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Had a thought, are we breaking any terms or conditions of the card by broadcasting the discount prices??Halfords might not be happy if everyone found out...Not at all mate, they're in the process of getting a dedicated trade site set up anyway. My best buy was a set of ratchet spanners : retail sale price £50, trade price £38.I think the 150 piece set is going down to about £90 on trade too. mealexme Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 I was thinking about getting one, but I don't usually buy things there. On the other hand, I do need a new tool set.Is there a time limit on trade cards? Ie they are invalid after a year? Quote
Mr Fro Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 Nope, I've had mine since they started ~ 8 years ago. Quote
125learner Posted May 5, 2014 Posted May 5, 2014 How can I get one? I spend a fortune at halfords as everything seems to break when the motor factors is closed Quote

I spend a fortune at halfords as everything seems to break when the motor factors is closed Mr Fro managed to wrangle a few for forum members but there is certain criteria you must meet first and unfortunately you both dont meet that just yet But stick around you never know Quote
