MarkW Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 My business works with a piece of European legislation to which all 28 Member States are legally bound. Getting some countries to do what they are supposed to do - even when their obligations are set in stone - is a full time job, and the only reason we can force them to play ball is by virtue of our membership of the club. In my industry the notion that we could leave and then negotiate something better - or even equivalent - is straight out of cuckoo land. Nothing would please the German, French, Italian and Spanish regulatory authorities more than us slinging our hook, because then they'd have no legal obligation to listen to a damn thing we said. And ultimately the people who loose will be us.There are many things I dislike about Europe, but where food security is concerned we have to deal with them whether we're in or out: leaving would be nothing more than self castration.
johnakay Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 self castration my ass.it doesnt matter whether UKIP get donation from express newspapers or other.all political parties get donations ..Tories from the Rich labour mostly supported by unions the list goes on.do you rely want to be ruled by foreigners because that what will happen if we stay in.Here's some comments from the Civitas think tank (which is not affiliated to any party) which bust a lot of the myths about the EU.http://www.eu-facts.org.uk/the-referendum-debate/arguments-by-topic/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Grumpy Old Git Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Tha daily Star advises that staying in can increase the bust size of young ladies!
Ristonbiker Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 My heart say out, when you do a search on Google if we will be better off in or out there is a lot of scare tactics and it seems any MP that wants out seems to get gagged
Guest Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Being told something that you don't want to hear is always labelled as 'scare tactics' - theres nothing new about that.just ask any smoker.

Except those ones with pictures of fat being squeezed out of a clogged artery.Or these ones
Guest Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Anti smoking billboards usually make me really want a cigarette. me too.. I look at them and can feel my nicotinic acetylcholine receptors start to pine for the Capstans (or Park drive, most recently).. so to counteract that I imagine Angela Merkel dressed as a milk maid.. on top of a hill (a german one) Singing "If I ruled the world" in old norse while trying to coax switzerland out of its hidey hole with a bit of (Argentinean) corned beef.obviously.. my stopping smoking has had no effect whatsoever on my perception of reality or ability to deal with the daily temptation from those naughty billboards.as for leaving the EU.. we all need to ask ourselves "what would Troy Tempest do?"
oldie59 Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 At work we use agency staff to cover holidays and illness, my colleague was working with an agency staff member last week (not sure where he was from originally) and he asked her if she would be voting in or out. When she replied that she was uncertain, he stated that he hoped it would be a vote to stay in so that he could get all his family and friends to come here. Another reason I believe to vote out?

Guest Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 That image, where is there evidence the UK has given that much to those countries to join the EU? Thats not its purpose.. once again its about fear. fear of hordes of Turks.. and its not exactly subtle about linking Syria and Iraq.you might ask why those two countries are labelled on that map. you might well ask. just look at how its worded.. read it. its not even remotely subtle.
johnakay Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 all news papers are sensationalist .you take your pick !they are all bad as each other and that is why I dont buy papers.whether we stay in or out make no difference to me personally as I no longer work for anyone ,self employed for now.will retire in november of this year.what I am concerned regarding in or out is my grand children future. our forefathers fought and died for our freedom dont let it be a waste.make no mistake the Eu want to control every aspect of your life. all the money not just ours that goes in no one is accountable or signed off. so we dont know for sure who get what or where it goes. the EU ..refuse to do this .can we really trust them to look after us. a definite NO in my opinion.every body make their own choices in life. this maybe the last chance we get to vote so make it count.
Grumpy Old Git Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Again - conjecture not based on fact.This is the whole problem with the referendum - who is going to sit and read through the huge pile of paperwork which details how the EU operates, the controls, the 'rules', the governance and the oversight that the Euro MPs have as their right?What we constantly get is 'snippets' taken out of context and rumour, which has no basis in fact!Some 'stuff' is fairly easy (only takes a few hours reading) to find the answers and the payment in/out is one such point - Check out the financial governance and controls (including independant annual audits) that exist and statements such as 'nobody signs for payments' can be seen to be totally inaccurate!Rant over.
RantMachine Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 What, because he said that the problem with the referendum is that people aren't fully informed when making their decisions?Are you saying that anyone who encourages understanding the facts properly must, by assumption, be voting in? That's an awfully mean generalisation to make about all the out voters...
