Hey, why not just use one of these? As a bonus, you never have to worry about torquing it up

Its about 40mm long with the plug in, no bigger than the drain valves . The exhaust sits lower .

Here it is inside her, bit big but still not lower then the exhaust. Ill JB it Friday hopefully

Thanks to everyone who helped, I'm sorted now. The JB weld didnt bond to the ally properly, did as much cleaning as I could but wasn't having it.

I now have just a plug with the RTV sealer in and the crack was sealed ok by the JB weld. No leaks, no stupid parts hanging out .
