Phooey Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 I need your help. I am doing a research project into unusual or strange eperiences surrounding death. If you have experienced anything unusual before, during or after the event and you are happy to talk to me about it please PM me. Doesn't matter who the deceased was. I am only interested in the unusual events surrounding the passing.I am looking for anything that is not considered 'normal'.Thank you Quote
Mr Fro Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 Unusual in what way?We (the family) let out a collective cheer when my grandfather karked it. Don't know how unusual that actually is. Quote

Tis not unheard of.Although mum worked out she died just on Highwater when Grandfather's ship would of docked or sailed... Quote

Not exactly what I was thinking Mr Fro. lolExample: When my uncle was about 18 he used to live with us. One morning he woke up and came down stairs and asked what mum (his mother) was doing here. Apparantly, his mother came out of the bathroom and said good morning to him. About an hour or so later the police arriced and informed us that she had passed away the night before. Quote
mailee66 Posted March 1, 2017 Posted March 1, 2017 OK I will take the bait. When I was a young slip of a lad playing with Action men (Go on take the p*ss) One evening I made a coffin out of cardboard for one. (I am not sick really just seemed a good idea at the time) I had just finished it and placed Action man in it when there was a hammering on the door and in burst my Grandmother in tears relating that her son, my uncle had just collapsed and died in the kitchen! Spooky or what!? I never made any more coffins for any dolls after that. Quote

Throttled Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I nearly drowned in a water skiing accident. I fell, got tangled in the rope and was dragged under as no one in the boat was watching behind. I would have drowned if I had not have a life jacket on, because once the boat stopped, turned and came back for me I floated to the surface. Otherwise I was exhausted from trying to rescue myself. Lots of events during my life flashed through my mind, like a very very fast dream. It was like every one I had met and things I had done was lined up and then played like a fast forwarded film. Even though I was thrashing about, I felt very calm and I vividly remember thinking to myself at least I was not in any pain. Quote
MrBrightside Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 I had a strange experience when I crashed last year and got knocked out. Vivid and really bizarre. Not really an after death thing, more a near death experience? Was very weird though. Quote
MarkW Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 It's not a near death experience (sorry!) but I once had a weird 'out of body' experience in a car crash. I had only recently passed my test and wasn't wise to HGV drivers straightening out roundabouts instead of going round them. I was in the inside lane, and as his trailer did a nice can-opener job down the side of my car and ground me into the roundabout I could see the entire scene from above. I literally felt as though I was floating above the whole thing and looking down - it was that clear. Obviously my brain was taking the data it was receiving from my eyes and processing it to give me a view of the situation that I couldn't possibly have had, but it genuinely felt as though I'd floated off and was looking down. The brain is a remarkable thing! Quote
Mr Fro Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Crash stuff is weird, I don't remember much about mine at all.I remember watching, almost in slow-mo, the car bonnet coming towards me and making contact with the front wheel. Next thing I know I'm waking up on the ground with people shouting to tell me to lay still. Quote
Mawsley Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Scientists are ace.Want to find out why time slows during accidents? Push someone off a roof.http://www.livescience.com/2117-time-slow-emergencies.html Quote
MrBrightside Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Going further on mine...Twat in Mercedes turned into me, I knew I was gonna hit. I remember hearing the crunch but not seeing or feeling the launch. Next minute I'm in a really big party with all my friends and family there, thumping music, laughing etc. Apparently I was out for around 5 minutes, which apparently ain't good. Then suddenly opened my eyes, laying on my back, hearing the wind rushing through the trees and birds singing. Such a bizzare feeling and almost serene, the total opposite of the first accident, which was horrifying. Quote

The brain is a remarkable thing!Me too, also saw a very near miss from birds eye view when I fell asleep on the M6. After very close encounters with both central barrier and the embankment, and thinking I was going to roll the car with the violent swerving across the carriageway, I saw my Ford Escort rolling wheels over roof down the M6 from above. That didn't happen and I recovered the sideways skids and pulled the car to a stop on the hard shoulder, but I was left clutching my chest and legs on the hard shoulder, much in the same way as you might pinch yourself in a dream, struggling to grasp that I was actually bodily sitting there and alive and breathing, and not still floating along above the motorway.I've also spoken to and hugged a dead ex girlfriend during an asthma attack, and was suprised by the fact her cheek was warm, as the last time I touched her cheek in her coffin she was stone cold and it had surprised me then, dunno what I was expecting but I'd never touched a dead body before and I recoiled at the cold.My father was also visited by my dead grandfather before and after my birth, and my mother during my birth. I was 8 weeks premature, my mother was in labour for a week, and I was induced because she was going to die in childbirth.Tricks of the mind in stressful situations? Perhaps, but we'd all swear to god we believed they happened, even if they weren't real. One morning my father came down the stairs and found his wedding photo had fallen from the wall in the hall and smashed the frame/glass. Picture hook still in the wall, no apparent reason. He cleaned up the mess and picked up the post from the doormat. An official looking A4 envelope, clearly not a household bill, he opened it to find a divorce petition from my mother's solicitor. That one definately happened so it was more coincidence than trick of the mind?Who in hell or heaven knows, somebody does.Don't ride faster than your guardian Angel can fly! Guest Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 I was there at his bedside when my father passed away. No strange experiences, but I did (perhaps rather insensitivity looking back) tell my sister to stop rabitting in his ear because it was quite clear to me for some reason that he was no longer there and she was talking to a corpse.PM me if you want to talk more.Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Quote
Phooey Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 Thanks for these comments guys.I asked the question because my Father recently passed away, last Saturday actually, and while I was visiting the hospice an old lady sat sipping tea in a room next to his smiled at me as I passed. I smiled back and she caught me off guard saying 'can you see me?'I smiled again and rather confusingly replied with, 'Sorry!'She laughed and said, 'That got you, didn't it?' (according to the nurses she was a bit of a joker)Although the dear old soul was joking it reminded me off the time my Uncle spoke to my grandmother AFTER she had passed away Story earlier about Grandmother saying goodmorning to him. I wonderred what other stories others had. It would be very interesting to see if there is some sort of explanation for all of them! Interesting for me any way.I have received quite a few stories from several sources and some I want to follow up. I may be messaging some of you at some point. Thanks again. I appreciate your responces. Even the slightly mocking ones Quote

Even though I was thrashing about, I felt very calm and I vividly remember thinking to myself at least I was not in any pain. I watched a documentary once and they reckon that the whole life flashing before your eyes is actually your brain trying to find a solution to get you out of the situation you're in. Quote
NeilM Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I will add to this.Firstly I had a conversation about dropping my Gran off to the bingo with her 2 month after she had passed away. (I was 18 still living at home and my Gran had lived with us for years). Totally freaked me out. I believe in nothing like this and still can't comprehend what happened 25 year later. Also morphine!!!I came round from surgery and was on a morphine drip. And I kid you not I bet it felt like days before I worked out if I was alive or dead.I actually thought I'd had the last rights. A priest was there and everything. Turns out a priest was there as he was doing his left footer rounds of the LGI...lol Quote
Joeman Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Something that I thought the other day. If dead people are watching over us, I hope they see the abridged version of our lives, kind of like how we never see people go to the toilet in soap operas! Quote

Very strange sitting with someone who's awake but in large doses of morphine, the things they can see which aren't there are as varied as a Nazi solidier who wants to torture them, to sheep and goats running in circles round the bed.Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk Edited March 8, 2017 by Anonymous Quote
NeilM Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Yes morphine is evil stuff. My father in law is on dia morphine at present ( terminal cancer) and he is experiencing some weird shit. When they put him on it last week it really freaked him out.Lisa was having to explain to him that Neil had had the same sort of thoughts. (The Macmillan and medical teams can give you an insight but until you're on it, it's hard to comprehend) Quote
Six30 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 If you want a laugh and proof there is nothing out there , go on a ghost hunt, we went on one few months back at Upnor castle , just out of curiosity really , it was the best night I've had for ages , not for contacting the dead but laughing at idiots that must attend these things regular , they believe and that's it and as for the Physic Mediums that was there trying to make things move and talking to thin air they should just be locked up ..... honestly it was comical Quote
MR_W Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 My grandpa always told me to look out for a male greater spotted woodpecker. The day he died was the first time I saw one. May be a coincidence but there is some comfort in thinking he came to say goodbye. Playing as defence in ice hockey it took a while to get my first goal as you don't get many opportunities. My first competitive goal my instant reaction was to look up and talk to my mums parents as they had been supportive of me through a lot of sports. It's silly how it made me feel so emotional in a way.I had a recent near death experience and for me I seemed to have a black out period and then sudden waves of terror and panic hit me. Quote
