My chain went rusty overnight recently, bright orange. Broke my heart. I blame the gear oil that people on here recommend. It flings off and it washes off. I used the bike all of last winter never had this before and I was using specific chain lubes then

Like William Shakespeare once wrote 'not all one reads on the t'internet is the truth'

Still commuting daily up here in the Highlands, waterproofs, thermals and regular washing/chain lube keeps everything good :)

Yup, just got back from the second trip of the day, bike is covered in mud again and something nasty has got onto the radiator and pipes, there is a terrible smell and smoke coming from it.

Well....Managed all but one day commuting on the bike this year. Today was my last commute for the year, looking forward to doing it all again next year   :D

Weird commuting weather. On paper should be great. Unseasonably mild apparently but felt cold, not rained for a couple of days but the road was gleaming with moisture and not drying out. Tyre grip felt sketchy, tentative riders are not happy riders

Did 127 miles today, bike came home covered in a variety of substances, not all of which I’d care to identify.

Got the trusty pressure washer out and promptly trod on the water inlet and snapped it off.

It was an old Halfords branded one but the fittings were Nilfisk so I guess it makes sense to replace it with the same type. They seem to get decent reviews.

Bike has gone away, mainly because my thumb needs to heal. Will be Feb by the time I can ride again. Then I need to fix the indicators and brake lever.
