I'm not overly enamored with 2025 so far

7am, discover van has flat battery, it's under warranty so call nissan on the off chance I get a new battery 😁

RAC jumpstart after several hours and 6million texts, god the auto system is mental.

No new battery from home start.

Next up simple job, frozen tap nackerd with frost, ohh it's outside next to a wall and close to the ground and I can't isolate it and I can't get a pipe clamp on not enough pipe coming out of ground, that's ok it's frozen, except it's not it's just knackered, so remove alkathene tap spend 10min trying to pick off gripper ring and fittings without damaging pipe then fit new tap all the while with full bore water shower going every direction, fingers passed pain and numb to not actually working as fingers anymore.

Get sorted completely soaked get a call from my dad, my sister boiler off and she's away and it's freezing, what you done, nothing he says, are you sure, yes, off to sisters, not out of my way at all ( extremely out of my way), cover off pressure tester on hmm, did you turn the gas off to the boiler, err no I topped water up but she didn't know if it was blue or green valve, well it's not the big yellow one.....

I miss 2024.

Is it Christmas yet.

Could you not use some of that freeze spray that freezes the water pipes.  @Bender

I don't envy you doing that in this weather.

It wasn't a planned job, it was this is broke fix it, freeze spray does work ,not so good on 25mm mdp though, probably be  a freeze machine job and I would have had to dig a hole to do it, at which point I could have just used a pipe clamp.

Good afternoon,

My area is still reeling from the flooding a couple of days ago. The canal breached at a section near my old home town, and has shut down the roads.

Quite a serious thing when you see it, a 100m length or more has just simply ceased to exist, and it drained the canal into the nearby countryside, also grounding the boats that were moored up.

Speaking to some locals, this wasn't the first time it happened, the same spot failed back in the 70s and took 2 years to fix! No doubt Peel will find a way to make it take double the time, and cost 5 times more than anyone would reasonably guess.
