Christmas Grinch - The revenge.

I work out of a small unit (25-30 people in total) working 24/7, 365 no managers working on site.  We have a small rec room/ cooking area/ lounge which did have a Christmas tree and some random dec's.

Management: "Can I please make it clear that due to Covid 19 and infection prevention we are not to have any decorations or tress up this Festive period."  Along with a rambling about how we must take them down, a few pointed comments and the old "we will be happy to discuss it with you individually" (Your card is marked). With the suggestion to make our own "laminated pictures of decorations and a tree".

The Tree is now outside.

Routinely we bring in Box's of biscuits, donuts chocolates cake or whatever normally picked up from service stations when cheap.  This is "Shared food" and no longer allowed, neither is the usual Christmas spread of food frequently brought in by them not working and families.  "Shared food" and "non essential visit to workplace".

All suggestions on how to really irritate management and allow an overblown  Christmas... without braking Covid rules appreciated.

Obviously quality management.  Assuming you are working together any plague swapping will happen regardless.  Wouldnt have thought a tree was exactly high risk infection vector but I know nothing anyway. Just say your sense of smell has gone weird and all you can smell is bull shit. Must have the virus and go and isolate.

Our company office has a Christmas tree, decorations and baubles .... the bottle of hand sanitiser by the entrance door is the same one that was there in March.. not a mask in sight .....

And we are totally compliant with all laws and guidance ... and are an illness free space  ......

Don't challenge the management .... out source yourselves to competitors then one day no one will answer the phones when the managers ring .... :classic_biggrin:

As happened to me when i took over as Production Manager of a steel processing plant in Doncaster in the late 90's ... 90% (really) of the workforce had quietly moved across the road to another steel company without giving notice ....!!

You’re far more likely to touch another persons desk or phone or the kettle or the door or a seat than a bauble on a Christmas tree. You could quite legitimately declare the tree a safe zone on the account of it being the least likely vector! They could be liable if they remove your Christmas safety zone 😆
Also without wishing to be too boring (snore) virus’ are flimsy things and inhalation is without a doubt the main route of infection. Bacteria on surfaces yes, viruses possibly but mainly no.

What do you mean someone else's desk or phone?

Our work is out and about not on base...

We have 1 kettle, 2 communal shared desks with computers only one of them has a phone.

Doors, toaster, microwaves, and kettle are probably biggest risks, don't tell management they will take them away.

Our Christmas tree is now in the carpark....
