detainer Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Is there such a thing as a waterproof ''dirt'' cover for a rear mono shock? Something on the lines of a nylon tube possibly? I have a rear hugger fitted but the shock still gets covered in sh, shi, sh,,,,,, dirt. Its clean as a whistle and i'd like to keep it that way if possible. Secondly, how do you use a rear paddock stand single handed?. I cant seem to find a way to hold the bike upright off the side stand while i get the stand in position under the swing arm bobbins and lift the back end. Many thanks Quote
Ian Frog Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 I believe you will find a thing called a "Shock sock". Try the link for the sportsbike shop or someone like M&P. The paddock stand thing is practise but you can make yourself a block to go under the side stand to reduce the lean. Be careful not to go too far though. Cheers Ian Quote
husoi Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Like mr frog says an alternative to the shock is not looking at it. You will see how clean it gets if you don't look. Quote

bonio Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 If you use a shock sock, take it off after a ride if its wet, and let the shock get some air. You can make things worse if you use it to keep the salt and damp in. Quote
Guest Swagman Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 Just wash the bike well when you have finished, do that and you won’t have any problems, if you don’t look after a motorcycle it will cause you a lot in expenses. Quote
Cpt_Tact Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 I used one of the R&G rear shock tubes on my Dorosoduro, I left it on their for 2 years solid and when I did take it off there was no rust and the shock looked like new. As said above I may have been lucky as I'd always washed the bike if it had been out in the salt but most of the year around Herefordshire there is always mud kicking around so didn't want it gumming up around the shock. If you are paranoid then cover the rear shock in ACF50, wrap it and leave it. It's only Zip ties that are used to securely fasten it and you can buy the re-usable ones so you can take it off and wash it properly when ever you like.
