Mississippi Bullfrog Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 A friend who is a very experienced rider, he used to race a lot so is a very capable chap, recently bought himself a CB300R because he wanted something lighter but with enough capacity to be comfortable. He's chuffed with it. I can see the market for 300-500 bikes growing. Quote

I've been keeping an eye out for a project bike but always looking at Hondas and the prices of older bikes has been steadily rising. Never thought to look at ER5s, but there's plenty around for not a lot of money. Hmmm.... Quote

Someone builds a 150kg trailer and goes on and on about a 5,000 miles trip in 2 weeks to Portugal. What else do you need? Edited January 5, 2021 by husoi Quote

Never had a bike under 750cc and no plans to do it. My criteria is, heavier bikes don't let you be a crazy tw@t going like a baboon on crack swerving between cars. And yes I've downsized from my BEAUTIFUL ST1300 for shorter trips got a VT700 Edited January 5, 2021 by husoi 1 Quote

I do and as does the wife You would be surprised at how much you do need when you go away and it soon adds up What I did with the wife is told her to make a pile of stuff she want to take away then I told her to half that pile then half again!! 1 Quote

From gov.uk people Hmm also the initial part of that page states You can use motorbikes with an engine size of 125cc or more to tow small trailers. Most '125's are 124cc as you can only ride upto a 125cc/ power limit so it is a grey area that can bite ... 1 Quote

Correct, You would be looking at 175cc bikes to be legal. a 125 bike will be around 150 kg so you can only tow 100 kg. if the trailer weights 40kg then you're left with 60 kg. that's the missus toiletries bag. I knew someone would pick up on this, and yes it is a grey area but everyone knows that 124.x displacement are classed as 125's, same would apply if the displacement was 125.x would you be riding illegally.
