onesea Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Looking for a 1/2 decent box of mixed electrical connections, spade particularly with insulation like this. I need 2 small ones for broken wires on my front brake microswitch, however I could just do with reasonable assorted pack. Various sizes for a few odd jobs on bikes and boats. Any suggestions. Quote
Mississippi Bullfrog Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 There are loads on Amazon and Ebay. Quote
husoi Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 You want to consider heat shrink ones, they isolate better and won't move once fitted. Quote
husoi Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 cheap as chips https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/1239846747?iid=223387622510 Just ordered one myself Quote
WD40 Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Not a fan of using spade connectors on motorbikes. They always seem to corrode or break after a few years. Quote
smallfrowne Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Oof no. Half decent? Boat? Fugetabaatit. Maybe get the uninsulated ones to go with some heat shrink like wot husoi has linked to. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/393001128078 And a nice little crimper. I can't find the crimper I got, I think i got it from Newark bike jumble with some japanese bullet connectors. All I can see on eBay is stuff I'm not familiar with (ratchet crimpers - they might be fiiine, I just haven't had a go) apart from the pile of poo ones that come with or in those orrable blue/yellow/red plastic insulated terminal kits of horror, which personally I wouldn't bother with anymore. If nothing else they just feel horrible, and when I see them I get flashbacks of them just being shit. And on a boat? Might be ok to wire up yer beard trimmer if you plan on growing one out but I dunno about anything else, but I don't know boatage. I generally use them all over indescrimanantly, unsoldered but heat shrunk and slathered in a bit of grease. Quote
onesea Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 Spade connectors are useful not so much for joining wires, but for connecting to relays and auxiliaries. With changing the loom I am doing a couple of other jobs. Anyway I have ordered what I wanted it was cheaper by the 100 on Amazon than to buy a box. Although I only wanted a handful. Quote
Bender Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Ratchet crimper are OK, well the one I lost was great, as above for final connection onto things that need them. Quote
