I've been offered a free tracker with my new MT09. It's a Datatool Stealth that'll be supplied and fitted free; I'll have to pay the £100 annual fee.

Is it worth having? Do you get much of a discount on insurance with them?

Thanks in advance.

It may give you a slight reduction in insurance. Put in for quotes on a comparison site with it fitted and without and see what difference you get. If your bike is somewhere where theft is an issue it may help you recover it. I have basic datatag but no tracker as bike theft in my area isn't really a thing except very rarely.

Probably only your insurance company can answer the discount question, I would hazard a guess not much though, have a mate with a range rover and it was. uninsurable without tracker and still expensive with it.

Be aware, I’ve seen a lot of complaints about that particular tracker causing drain to the battery. If fitted it’s pretty much essential to keep the bike on a battery minder.

It gets to a certain point in life that nothing reduces your premium anymore!

You have to weigh up whether you would want the bike back if it can be found by the tracker and if its worth the £100 a year
