Fish Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 So when I picked my bike up during the summer it had a white wax/grease on it. It lasted much better than the Silkoene and Motul's I've been using. I applied the Silkolene two weeks ago, riden twice and it was showing signs of lite surface rust which came off with a clean and no brushing. So what grease are people using and how can I get this white grease look/application again? Quote
Throttled Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 I am wondering if the issue is that the rust is down to the time of year. Would the white wax/grease have stopped rust when riding in the winter? I use some WD40 stuff that left a white residue and come the winter, the chain rusted as it always does. Quote
Gerontious Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 It’s whatever they use for transportation, from the factory to the end user. If it was applicable for use on a running motorcycle they would be recommending it on their packaging. They don’t. Quote
S-Westerly Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 There's a white chain lube called S100. Very popular in Germany and I've been using it for last 2 years. SBS sell it. 1 Quote
MikeHorton Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 I've found gear oil the only real winner I the winter and pretty much anything is fine in the summer 2 Quote
husoi Posted January 24, 2022 Posted January 24, 2022 From memory the white stuff is dry chain lub. This usually last far longer than normal liquid lub. However, it requires extra care when applying in the likes of cleaning the chain when changing from cheaper chain lubricant. 1 Quote
